Great hire! I am looking forward to WinAppSDK getting even better and the DX to improve as well!
I'm excited to share that today is my first day at Microsoft, joining the Windows Developer Platform team! I'll be working on the Windows App SDK and working with developer communities to help evolve the platform and make building great apps on and for Windows even better. #winui

Interesting... WinAppSDK 1.7 experimental builds contains ARM64EC runtime builds

Microsoft just released the 2nd experimental release of #WinAppSDK 1.7!

Rich notifications for calls, adding badges to the taskbar for Win32 apps, file scoped namespaces in templates, unit tests all around, and more!

Who else loves that the WinAppSDK grew 30% in size (well over 100mb now) just to add AI apis that will only run on copilot PCs? They really need to start splitting this package up into smaller packages

Playing a bit with the Windows Copilot runtime. If you have the right hardware, it's much easier to get going with local AI than any of the other AI SDKs. Source and blogpost coming soon... #WinAppSDK #WinUI #copilot

And by significant reduction I mean: The ARM64 output folder goes from 242mb to 121mb for a blank new app! All the WinAppSDK stuff you don't need you can now exclude!

🚀 #ThrowbackThursday to late 2024 when we introduced OpenGL Canvas—a game-changer for hardware-accelerated 3D in Skia Desktop! 🎨✨ Now, Linux, Windows, macOS & WinAppSDK can seamlessly embed 3D graphics in 2D apps with GLCanvasElement. 🔥

Just shipped WinUIEx 2.6.0. This one includes a workaround for that ugly WinUI memory leak and some deprecations, now that WinAppSDK 1.7 have some alternative APIs. Also a simple property to add your app to the tray icons www.nuget.org/packages/Win...

It may not seem like much, but I've been trying to get this green checkmark for SO long. All @platform.uno runtime tests will also run in CI against WinAppSDK meaning we'll automatically catch any test that has incorrect assumptions 🎉 #dotnet #opensource

The New Architecture is a massive rework on React Native Windows, which is inching closer to a v0.76.0 release. Apps have to migrate:

From UWP, WinUI2, and XAML…
⬇
… to Win32, WinUI3, and WinAppSDK.

Once all flavours are on New Arch, it'll greatly simplify maintenance of community native modules.

If you're not using WinUIEx in your WinAppSDK app you're doing something wrong! It is an amazing package and essential for any serious app.
