The Winternight Glow mug is so pretty. Such soft, dreamy colours! The painting decorating the mug was commissioned from Tove for the cover of the French edition of Moominland Midwinter, published in 1972. It's also my very favourite of all the Moomin novels.
I'm so happy the Groke is on the mug! 🤍

There are only a few illustrations of the Groke by Tove, so this feels extra special. Parvati Pillai did an amazing job recreating Tove's original gouache illustration. 🤍❄️✨

I love books that feature Slavic culture/history. The Winternight Trilogy is one of my fav series.

Yesterday was a fun day, so i couldn't think enough to decide what to get from the Winternight Glow collection. I wanted the little Too-ticky-Sorry-oo plate, but they only sell it as a set with the Groke plate, and i wasn't too happy about that. :)) So i ended up getting just the mug...

🌙 Tempted to read the Winternight Trilogy again <3 It's got blends of everything I look for, in fairy tale retellings: History, Romance but not the typical in Romantasy, a heroine who actually tries to find balance with her beliefs while keeping her creatures safe all the same...I'm a nerd. I know.

This #MegaMan hack is a lot less wintery and a lot less night than its title would imply. Then again, about half of the stages are kinda wintery and half are at night so the math sorta works.

The Winternight trilogy (Katherine Arden), reimagining Russian fairy tales by a Russian scholar. Some romantasy, some badassery, a lot of snow. All three books were five star reads for me.

Oh, I bet that’s some fascinating reading.
2 things I appreciate from reading Katherine Arden’s Winternight trilogy were learning about how the Rus’ society was set up under Mongol rule, but also about Slavic fairy lore.
Knew absolutely nothing about either when I started them.

Yeah, Alanna is a pretty mild version of it. But the Winternight case was so disagreeable that I quit the series.

It shows up, e.g., in the Song of the Lioness books by Tamora Pierce, and one of Katherine Arden's Winternight books. These are not offensive books. These are quite good books! I just hate those particular plot points. I wish girls could dress up as boys and get away with it more often.
