Starting to finish up the Arc 2 drawings as I go with sketches at the same time! Moonwatcher in colour now <3
I still envision her as a little chubby and just really sweet and shy. Am happy with the endresult!

fullbody ref for moonwatcher along w/ a handwriting hc !!! yap session for the reasoning behind it is in tumblr + the alt text

#wingsoffire #wof #moonwatcher #wofmoonwatcher
a headshot of moonwatcher from wings of fire by tui t sutherland. her eyes are pensive, a side profile showing how her brows knit together as she looks to the left uncertainly. the rest of the headshot of moonwatcher from wings of fire in a fullbody drawing. she has 3 "layers" of color to her: black upper-scales, dark bluish-green middle scales, and a barely lighter green underbelly. all tracing down, or horizontal, to her body. her paws are round and large, attesting to the silence she would need to hunt. and though her posture is that of a normal full body side profile, she is uncertain. her right paw drawn in front of her in hesitance, painting the picture of the shy girl she is in the books. for her handwriting i def wanted to go for something between fancy cursive and "i never learned how to write", i think she'd get a lot of the inspo for her writing style from the scrolls her mama got her. my personal headcanon is that secretkeeper got moon old literature that no one really noticed or needed anymore so she could steal them as she pleased,, probably part of the reason moon was given a wider perception of life/empathy as a nightwing; i think it would be really cool if that was reflected in her handwriting :]

"Spider"

Based on a conversation I had 2 years ago. The title is "spider" and there is discussion of a spider, but no actual spiders depicted in the comic.

Can never have enough Qibli/Winter domestic scenes.

#WingsOfFire #wof #wofQibli #wofWinter #wofMoonwatcher #dragon
A comic featuring Qibli and Winter. Winter wakes up a sleeping Qibli, who groggily wonders what's happening. Winter then informs him that there is a spider in the bathroom. Qibli doesn't know what he is supposed to do with this information. Winter explains that he wants him to get rid of the spider, saying that, as a Sandwing who eats scorpions, Qibli should be able to deal with this problem. Qibli angrily refuses to eat the bathroom spider, to which Winter says he doesn't care how Qibli disposes of the spider, as long as he does so somehow. Qibli then walks into the bathroom, intent to see the spider and making fun of Winter. He then looks at something off-panel (implied to be the spider) and falls silent. Smash cut to both Qibli and Winter now waking up a sleeping Moonwatcher. As Moon gets up, Winter explains that there is a spider in the bathroom, while Qibli sheepishly says "It's a lot bigger than I expected."

Sequence of Kinkajou/Moonwatcher for Pride Month. #wofKinkajou #wofMoonwatcher #dragon #WingsOfFire #wof
A scene showing Kinkajou and Moonwatcher in an indoor location, implied to be seated at a table. Kinkajou is holding two slices of pineapple over her eyes and looking through the holes in the middle, making a goofy face with her tongue sticking out. Moonwatcher is laughing while covering her mouth. A scene showing Kinkajou and Moonwatcher in the same location as before. Kinkajou has placed a pineapple slice onto her snout in such a way that her nose spike is holding it in place in front of her. Her expression is mischievous and she points at the slice, daring Moonwatcher to go for it. Moonwatcher is blushing and looking bashfully off to the side. A scene showing two dragons in silhouette, kissing. The foreground depicts a counter top with a potted plant resting on it. The plant looks like a spherical mass of leaves with flowers growing out of it. The orange clay pot is decorated with three colorful bands--orange, white, and pink--resembling the lesbian flag.

"Your Choice"
#WingsOfFire #wof #dragon #wofKinkajou #wofMoonwatcher
(prompt sheet by Pencilcat)
A comic featuring Kinkajou and Moonwatcher in a hallway in Jade Mountain. Kinkajou is entering the scene from the back, joining Moon, Qibli, and Turtle. She is amazed that Moon "caught the bomber" and also "ousted Scarlet's spy". Moon notes that Kinkajou is willing to speak to her again, after they had previously fought. Kinkajou explains that, while she was mad about Moon keeping her mindreading powers secret, she concluded that the powers are a part of Moon's identity, and she herself tends to say everything that comes to mind anyway, and accepts Moon wholeheartedly. Moon interjects that it doesn't have to be like that. She hands the Rainwing a piece of Skyfire, which can block mindreaders if held. Kinkajou examines the rock, then lets it drop from her hand. She was serious when she said she is fine with Moon's powers, and that she needs to accept all of Moon to truly be friends with her. She then hugs Moon, saying "I don't need a magic rock to keep me safe from my best friend"

#WingsOfFire #wof #dragon #wofMoonwatcher #wofTurtle #wofDarkstalker #wofKinkajou
(prompt sheet by Pencilcat)
A comic depicting a confrontation between Moonwatcher, Turtle, and Darkstalker. Moonwatcher beseeches Darkstalker to abandon his nefarious plans and come back to his senses, which Darkstalker refuses. He asks how the two of them plan to stop him, mocking their plan of using a cursed Strawberry against him, which he foresaw with his powers. Turtle replies that they were considering the strawberry idea for a while, but ultimately concluded that it was too silly, and that they wanted to go in a "different direction". Suddenly, two enormous claws grasp Darkstalker by the wings and effortlessly pick him up. The last panel is a wide shot of Kinkajou, enlarged to a gargantuan size, dwarfing mountains around her and her head reaching up into the clouds. She holds Darkstalker--who is the size of her palm--up to her face and laughs, mocking him by saying "Who is your daddy now, Storkdingler?"

Not my best work.
(prompt sheet by Pencilcat)
A scene showing the original members of the Jade Winglet sitting in a dark room together. In the foreground is a TV playing a very violent and gore-y movie. Qibli and Winter look thoroughly put-off, with the latter's mouth hanging agape in shocked disgust. Moonwatcher looks awkward, like she doesn't really want to be there, her eyes averted from the screen. Carnelian is really into the movie, wearing a huge grin and having her fists raised in front of her. Kinkajou looks amused and is laughing at the events of the film, somehow completely unfazed. Turtle meanwhile is quietly sobbing into a pillow. In the background, Umber is in the process of leaving the room altogether.

(prompt sheet by Pencilcat)
A comic featuring the Jade Winglet playing a tabletop role-playing game. Moonwatcher is seen surrounded by a mystical aura, her eyes glowing an eerie white as she looks into the future. She begins recounting a sequence of numbers going "14, 11, 7, 12, 1, 20" and states that these are the next numbers Qibli is going to roll. Qibli is happy about this and declares that his character is going to do 5 backflips and then attempt to seduce the Queen. Umber, who is the Dungeon Master for this session, confirms the action and, with a somewhat bemused expression on his face, tells Moonwatcher to see him after the session for a talk. Meanwhile Turtle is wondering why he "dumped Constitution."

Based on a comic I drew months ago and never published.
#WingsOfFire #wof #dragon #wofCarnelian #wofBigtail #wofMoonwatcher #wofKinkajou
(prompt sheet by Pencilcat)
A comic featuring Carnelian the Skywing and Bigtail the Nightwing in a non-descript location. Bigtail calls out to Carnelian from behind, holding a lumpy clay figurine of a dragon. Carnelian turns around and asks him what he wants, to which he informs her that he has a present for her. The next panel shows a close-up of the lumpy clay dragon. Carnelian wants to know what it is, and Bigtail replies that it is supposed to be her. Incredulously, Carnelian wants to know why it looks so stupid, so Bigtail tells her that the wings accidentally came off during the firing. Carnelian seems unimpressed with his explanation, but gives up arguing about it. The scene returns to both of them standing in front of each other, conversing. Bigtail further explains that the head of the figurine can be taken off to reveal a hidden compartment for drinks. Carnelian, aghast, wonders if he is being serious, but Bigtail is preoccupied with musing that Starflight will never catch them now. A rudimentary comic featuring Carnelian the Skywing and Bigtail the Nightwing in a non-descript location. Bigtail calls out to Carnelian from behind, holding a lumpy clay figurine of a dragon. Carnelian turns around and asks him what he wants, to which he informs her that he has a present for her. The next panel shows a close-up of the lumpy clay dragon. Carnelian, aghast, wonders if he is being serious, but Bigtail is preoccupied with musing that Starflight will never catch them now. A rudimentary comic featuring Carnelian the Skywing, Kinkajou the Rainwing, and Moonwatcher the Nightwing (implied). Carnelian is lying on her bed reading a scroll while Kinkajou is having a noisy but nondescript conversation with an off-panel Moonwatcher ("Blah blah blah"). After a moment Carnelian looks up nervously and reaches for the misshapen dragon figurine flask Bigtail gifted her earlier, which is sitting on a shelf next to her. She holds up the scroll she is reading to block the other two occupants of the room from seeing her face, then takes a drink from the flask. A rudimentary comic featuring Carnelian the Skywing, Kinkajou the Rainwing, and Moonwatcher the Nightwing. Kinkajou notices Carnelian drinking from the flask in secret and gets right in her face about it, eagerly demanding to know what she just drank. Carnelian denies having drunk anything, but Moonwatcher, through her superior Nightwing sense of smell, catches the scent in the air and identifies it as a "really fruity and sweet" cherry banana juice. Kinkajou is elated by this news, exclaiming that Carnelian has a sweet tooth. Carnelian denies it and asserts that she is a badass who doesn't like sweet drinks and is actually drinking hard liquor. Kinkajou doesn't buy it and calls her a sweetie, which elicits an impotent threat of violence.

A scene depicting Turtle, Kinkajou, Winter, Qibli, Moonwatcher, and Peril with anthropomorphic body shapes in an urban environment. Turtle is sitting on the ground with his eyes closed in a state of relaxation while holding a can of "Diet Kelp". He is wearing a turtleneck sweater. Kinkajou is leaning against a wall behind him, wearing a shirt with a psychedelic pattern on it. Winter is standing to the right of both of them, arms crossed and wearing a dark button-down shirt. Qibli is resting with his back against a wall next to him, wearing a black tanktop and baggy pants. Moonwatcher is sitting on the floor, wearing a baggy shirt with a red camo-pattern and contemplating a notebook she is holding. Peril stands behind her, playing with a fire in her hand and wearing a kind of flame-proof suit.

A scene depicting Moonwatcher, Winter, Qibli, Turtle, and Kinkajou attending a book club meeting. Everyone sans Kinkajou is lounging on the floor, reading or otherwise observing the Wings of Fire book they starred in. Moonwatcher looks content, Winter seems to be bothered by Qibli using his flank as a book stand and glares at him, and Turtle eyes his book nervously. Kinkajou is standing in the background, hands thrown up in exasperation.

A 2d cartoony side view drawing of two dragons: Carnelian on the left, facing the right, and Kinkajou the opposite. Carnelian is not wearing any accessories except a bandage on her nose, and she's looking to the side. Kinkajou is smiling and seemingly talking to her. Kinkajou is smaller than her and has a much more complex design, with messy hair in her face, mix matched wings, and hearts and "X"s running down her side. A headshot sketch Carnelian sticking her tongue out. She's wearing a spiky collar and chain necklace, and you can see the side not facing the camera is covered in yellow burns. A halfbody sketch sideview of Carnelian. Her scarred side is not facing the camera, and she's wearing the same spiky collar and chain necklace. She looks irritated and is blowing a puff of smoke. Her arms are crossed and you can see a spiky necklace on one wrist and chain over a burn on the other. On her shoulder is a black crescent moon mark with a dot in the curve. A simple headshot of Moonwatcher staring eerily into the distance. . She has big, black eyes with a small white pupil and a marking under her eye that looks like she's crying. She has an "x" on her forehead and a few more running down her neck.
