Princess Peach embarked on an archaeological expedition to the Ruins of the Dry Dry desert 7 years after the events of Paper Mario 64 to find relics to be stored in a museum, everything went well for the first 3 days, unfortunately everything turned into a nightmare for the princess having unwittingly destroyed an evil artifact having been abandoned in Tutankoopa that Mario and his fellow adventurers defeated to free Merestar, resulting in a group of mummies waking up of their eternal slumber and kidnapping her after knocking her out. Upon awakening, Peach was securely bound/gagged in an unexplored room in the Ruins and soon realized that she was going to be offered as a sacrifice for an evil ritual orchestrated by the mummies unaware that Tutankoopa had been defeated 7 years ago.
