#huevember Day 6

With that shade of orange, it could only be Woodbird, back with the floof

Also an experiment in painting to leave things more intentionally in the rough without looking unfinished, which has been a goal of mine for a long time.

I quite like Kupfer's Bayreuth Ring that has Wotan controlling the woodbird like a puppet!

Though ACTUALLY (without adding to any of the perfectly well-argued comments already on this thread), Harry Potter rehashes LOADS of the same orphaned-questing-hero tropes found in Siegfried. Parseltongue is just the Woodbird but with snakes…
Aside from all the good points everyone else has made, comparing The Tristan Prelude to Harry Potter is wild work.

Brauner Waldvogel
Does its dutch name mean cowfinch? The German name means "woodbird". Is there a difference in the habitat where they are observed in Germany and The Netherlands?

Thank you, Raz! 💚
Yeah, Yoko really surprised me!
I had gotten the Woodbird T-shirt as an early gift and Yoko was very excited about it, now I see why!

In a trip down memory lane: for me, looking at the Radio Times listings from Bayreuth in the 1970s, the woodbird had to be Yoko Kawahara. Born 1939, she’s still with us.

I think the actual cast sheet link isn’t supposed to go live until the day of the performance (even though I can obviously see the link there, not working). However the cast is listed, on the page that leads to it. You have to expand the list to get as far as the Woodbird.

Thinking on‘t, I do smile when the audience shushes ppl who applaud immediately the Woodbird finishes singing at the end of Act 2 of Siegfried. What to they think this is, Verdi?!

Fafner in giant dragon puppet form was reclining in former Valhalla while Brünnhilde and little Siegfried made appearances too, continuing the narrative confusion. But how the red-feathered Woodbird entertained, strutting about and sweetly sung by Álfheiõur Erla Guõmundsdóttir.
