Remember, remember, the hogs in November. It's bonfire night soon. Remember that at this time of year hedgehogs are making homes in woodpiles or piles of garden waste. Please check before lighting your bonfire. (please share or print and display poster) #Hedgehogs #BonfireNight #GuyFawkes

So anyway, if you’re in the area, Mezzano is well worth a stop – the woodpiles make a nice counterpoint to the relentless and brazen beauty of the surrounding scenery.

Supported my local library by buying this fundraiser calendar filled with pictures of my neighbors’ woodpiles. No really.

Last night was the first time I've been certain about a brown bear being in our garden in northern Greece, having left a trail across the moonlit snow past our woodpiles and front door before dropping backwards over the edge of a stone wall by hanging on with its front claws. New garden species!

Did you know?
White Wagtails don't need streams! As urban adapters, they love humans and build nests in roof beams, wall niches, or woodpiles.

Here's a wren in rich light on Cooper's Hill, Gloucestershire, where there are superb woodpiles where wrens can feed and hide thanks to @gloswildlife.bsky.social !

#Zone0 (0-5 ft) around your home is critical for wildfire defense. Keep the area free of combustible materials that could spread fire to the home:
* Remove trash bins.
* Keep woodpiles & flammable materials away from walls.
* Use gravel, pavers, or rocks instead of plants.

The village is incredibly proud of these woodpiles, and rightly so. They’re extremely pleasing. Some of them are, as it were, ‘working’ woodpiles – you can see that they get replenished from time to time as the wood is burned; others are public works of art.

In a little while I'm going to go out with a flashlight and see if any snails are moving into the woodpiles I made

Metro Nashville: Don’t haul away your storm debris! We want to pick it up and weigh it so we get more disaster money!

Also Metro Nashville: {leaves massive woodpiles untouched all over the city and refuses to pick them up}

In order to try and placate the neighbors so they stop reporting my yard to the city (even though I have signs in the front demarcating it as a registered butterfly garden) I am cutting little circles around the woodpiles I made last year, or whenever it was. Flags are for the endangered plants.

Do you have a woodpile? Woodpiles are one of the foremost known Chippie-portals in existence.

As we are heading towards the season of bonfires and leaf clearing please can you check woodpiles and other spots where these creatures might have made their winter beds.

He’s heard Trump’s nickname for him is something about woodpiles, so he’s trying to riff on that to suck up.

can't put anything down outdoors in Florida without some little bug, usually bee or ant, coming over and filling it up with grubs. every time I leave a plastic pot outside they put all their kids in it, like I haven't given them enough woodpiles already

I would like national politics to please calm down for one (1) day so we can get back to the important local issues of the day, like “Will the huge woodpiles littering my neighborhood that Metro has told people not to haul away themselves be picked up before the 4th of July?”

As a non native #Texan. Can someone explain the etiquette of "just walking into someone's yard and digging trenches and moving woodpiles" because I'm thinking that's fucking wrong
