doing #spellbee (spellbee.online) the last week or so has reminded me how fun it is to play a game where the solutions aren't these huge obvious words. and there's no incentive at all to just play in #wordbind and do what its original spirit seemed to be by doubling up on the letters.

I wondered why one of my fave @puzzmo.com puzzles, Wordbind, never left Experimental, and then they announced they were sunsetting it.
Turns out the reason wasn't that it was unpopular or buggy - they just ran out of unique puzzles! There's no scale to it for a daily site like puzzmo. Interesting!

imo wordle is a great game but is absolutely not a greater game than cubeclear, spelltower, typeshift, wordbind, and circuits -- and those are just the word games on puzzmo. they also have shit like Really Bad Chess which is exactly what it sounds like (cc @sarahz.bsky.social ?)
