Update: I have realized that a bunch of the characters that were previously casually mentioned only by first name should also have SURNAMES, so today's wordcount on the #WIP will be pretty low because names are hard. #writing
The story is likely to be ~8k words. It will have at least 22 named characters, 9 of whom will be POV characters at one point or another.

I'm aiming to enter a writing contest because it seems like a good way to give myself a realistic deadline (even if I don't end up entering) and realized the wordcount requirement is more-or-less 10,000 words which kind of feels like nothing after writing manically for so long.

I was gonna post on fb about feeling good about my October wordcount despite a slow start due to life events, but then it occurred to me that a whole lot of people would decide to show off in my replies by posting wordcounts that dwarfed mine or suggesting mine wasn't impressive, so I didn't.
