I like a bit in one of the novel's where Martok thinks that Worf is a good Klingon, his brother-in-arms, an honorable warrior, etc but is the dourest man he has ever met.

It’s so sad! Worf believes SO STRONGLY in Klingon values but the actual Klingon’s don’t — they aren’t actually always honourable, they are manipulative and sneaky. But Worf thinks highly of them anyway and doesnt see how he’s being manipulated 😭 WORF DESERVES BETTER

When Q snaps his fingers and Worf disappears in a flash of blinding light, only to reappear wearing a funny hat, nobody thinks that Q just killed Worf. Partly because people assume Q is godlike in his powers enough to do this, but partly because of how it's portrayed.

It's a stretch, but I think they could've tied it into early moral panic about kids getting obsessed with video games. They'd have to sell Worf's mental state or do something where Worf can't distinguish the game from reality and still thinks it's the game as he takes command IRL.
