This is why getting increasingly hopeless about democracy's workability hasn't actually made me any less pro-democracy tbh. All the other types of government are infinitely less workable
The real counter to "people are too stupid for democracy" is that the elites are by all appearances even stupider. The average person falls for TikTok cheapfakes meanwhile the average elite thinks transgender sports are a tractable policy-based concern and that AI will replace all jobs in 2 years

It should be “this is not morally right” (not “British values” even).

Well, the Supreme Court judges confuse legal workability with their own policy preference. Certification is obviously workable in all circumstances and they deemed it not just because they don’t like it. So we have this mess.
What the guidance goes even further on is, if you suspect someone is trans, they have no way to disprove it.
Even if you have a female passport, you aren't going in the women's gym if someone thinks you're clocky.
This is a legal nightmare.

Legal workability is clearly described in textbooks such as Bennion, Bailey, and Norbury on Statutory Interpretation that the judges should have consulted, but nah, they have their own desires.

At no point should discussions around Conservative or Reform mass deportation policies be about the "workability" or "practicality" of such policies. They should be about the inhumanity and immortality of them. They should be about the racism of them. Anything less is normalisation of xenophobia.
