I'm old school, I remember dial up bulletin board systems, usenet, worldchat, EFnet and DALnet. The social part of social media is still king to me, the rest is just bullshit noise and manipulative blather.

Don't care, don't need that.

We are an open protocol that any public/private key pair can use. There's no key to the network. World does use the protocol for their encrypted messenger, but anyone can use it. XMTP is for everyone. We just how they "Secure" their chat world.org/worldchat

自分も十分インターネット老人会会員だよなあと言うことで、SNSという概念すらなかった時代にインターネット経由で何を使ってコミュニケーションを実現していたかに思いを馳せてみる

WorldChat/Jという仮想空間でアバターを使ってチャットができるサービスがあって、自分が最も多くの人と知り合ったきっかけがこれで、オリジナルアバターも作ったりしてた

そこで知り合った人たちを中心にIRCやPowWowを使って会話してたけど、比較的メジャーだった（時代が少しずれてるか？）ICQは未経験

初代ディアブロも楽しかったなあ...と、懐古ネタが長文になりがちなところもインターネット老人会っぽい香りがするね

It was actually unhinged. I didn't even say anything mean, I asked in a mobile game's worldchat if somebody wanted to join my guild. But because my face is my pfp, they all dogpiled me.

I actually had a few threats in my messages on that game, a lot of them were hate crime level.
