#worldwetlandsday
Today we celebrate #WorldWetlandsDay!
Wetlands may often be overlooked, but they are essential to life.

Wetlands store water during droughts, absorb floods, filter pollution and support livelihoods.

This #WorldWetlandsDay, let us honour the traditional knowledge and cultural heritage that have protected wetlands for generations.

Celebrating #worldwetlandsday at Averbode. After Belgium’s wettest ever January (equalling the 2004 record) it’s excellent to see the blue skies but also reassuring to see how much water can be stored in forests, moorlands and wetlands. Adapting to climate change is possible.

Today is #WorldWetlandsDay and here at Jasper Ridge we have witnessed the development of #wetland/marsh areas in Searsville Reservoir. The figure shows a 24-yr ecological succession of the southern part of the lake into a #wetlands ecosystem! #WorldWetlandsDay2021

Wetlands filter water, prevent floods, store carbon, and provide critical habitat for wildlife. In California, 95% of our wetlands have been lost.

Today is #WorldWetlandsDay; it’s time to protect what remains—and always Leave No Trace!

Today is #WorldWetlandsDay - wetlands provide vital habitats for bat species in the UK with many being particularly reliant on clean waterbodies for their survival. Healthy wetlands are essential for people, #bats🦇 and other #wildlife.

🦇 It's #WorldWetlandsDay . Wetlands are good for people, the planet and wildlife. It's a key habitat for bats all year round as it supports a huge variety of insects which all UK bat species feed on.
Watching bats in your nearest blue space is guaranteed to boost your mood too.

#WorldWetlandsDay Been trying to post a gif that I made of a southern hawker dragonfly nymph feeding, but it doesn't seem possible. Here's the video it came from, though I can't slow that as I slowed the gif, so it's not as clear.
