Right. It is, isn't it...

(Mitya shifts his eyes off to the side with a wry smirk. His scarf points to the scientist's head as if to say, 'you've messed up.')

Hahaha, I guess I must be experiencing side effects from Ronova's curse mark still. Dizzy, and all... Memory loss...
Pantalone offered a smile that didn't reach his eyes. But he was amused, nonetheless. " Of course. Although, the Armory Palace is in the other direction. "
(Uh oh. Not the person he wants to be caught by!)

Mr. Pantalone.

(Mitya straightens his back, trying to act cool. He nods his head respectfully.)

Of course not. I'm just on my way back to the Armory Palace...

I do have a sense of wry amusement at the "corporate mandate means this media cannot actually express an opinion" style of writing e.g. "stand up for protecting the weak and against oppression" and I just want to keep going "protecting them FROM WHO AND WHAT" until someone actually has a thought

"Lockwood is a storyteller and most of these poems are anecdotal. She is the main character: the word “I” occurs more than 800 times."

@ravoon.bsky.social's review of Patricia Lockwood's collection reminds me that Philip Roth once had to have his typewriter repaired as he wore out the letter 'I'.
Gems, vaginas and me, me, me! Patricia Lockwood returns to poetry
In Agate Head/Stone Soup, the Priestdaddy author turns stone-cutting and medical drama into refreshingly wry verse

👍Was meant to be a wry comment on Mr Bessent's clownish 'I am the house' babble. If it cheered you up or, even better, got you dancing around your computer...👍👍👍😏

WHO’S AFRAID OF VIRGINIA WOOLF from last evening’s press night.

A feast of caustic barbs delivered with wry humour and sexual tension (but with gentler internecine excoriation than the movie)!

Review: WHO'S AFRAID OF VIRGINIA WOOLF? at Soho Place Theatre
It’s inevitable that any attempt to mount a production of WHO’S AFRAID OF VIRGINIA WOOLF will draw comparisons with Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor’s 1966 movie. Here, instead of attempting to emu...

I love his wry, seductive charm in 'F For Fake'. The clever way he blended fact with fiction. He said he regretted not staying in politics. He felt he had every qualification for that racket: "utter shamelessness"! Lol!

Every October, the sector suddenly remembers. Then November arrives and it's quiet again.

Black creativity is 24/7, 365. The opportunities should be too.

When Steely Dan ran aground in the early 1980s, Donald Fagen teamed with trusted producer Gary Katz to record his first solo album – The Nightfly. Released today in 1982 on Warner Bros, the album includes wry gems like “I.G.Y.” “The New Frontier” “The Goodbye Look” and “Walk Between Raindrops”

For the #HorrorWritersChat:

I'm Keith, I lean into comedy, so even my horror stuff has tinges of comedy (less jokey, more wry). I approached my most-recent #Horror project about 2 people torturing each other like an angry romcom.

Music? Classic Rock and '80s New Wave. And women that ROCK!
#HorrorWriteresChat Question One:

“All the best freaks are here
Please stop staring at me…”

This week, we’re asking about the music of the night, the songs on Lestat’s playlist, and all that jazz…

Introduce yourself, the horror you write, and your favorite music to listen to.

5. Some kids with names got mad at other kids with names, probably because of sheep or inheritance or something.

6. People with names kill each other, say some wry one-liners, and utter an impromptu skaldic verse or two.

7. An undead creature briefly causes trouble.

Can't wait for the wry, humorous pitch side comments when they play again.
If they play again?

My integration of the poetic lesson illustrated by fictional character written by a celebrated wry romantic of my diasporic motherland is being stymied by my bitter credulity of the utter cozmik corniness of their first name essentially being all but three letters of my last one.

Again watching Vidal in Venice with Gore Vidal.

m.youtube.com/watch?v=jA01...

Poncing around Venice making wry comments to camera is basically a dream job for me.

But no. Once again, it’s one rule for elite American polymath men of letters and another one for me. Disgraceful.

Farewell Esther Rantzen, a truly lovely, huge-hearted,charismatic person, who never did anything that didn't make someone else's life better. She combined compassion with courage, as well as a wry sense of humour & a lightly worn, vivacious intelligence.
