Short story example of this: When Gulf first unveiled their Williams livery in 2023, I was part of WTF1's coverage as an aid. The influencers they invited got THREE extra hours with the car to create "content" (Voiceover clips, transition videos, that sort of shit), before the press rolled up...

A lot of F1 influence(rs), see F1 as the ultimate in aspiration. It's now a genuine strat for engagement off the back of DTS (The Race Extra, formerly WTF1), chasing FOMO, etc.

Sadly, running influencers has been Formula E's marketing modus operandi for years. Sidemen watchalongs, a WTF1 reunion (MT+K era), throwing tens of thousands at medium level Instagram party goers... I dread to think what the fan conversion rate is on it, because it's never worked.

I always had that degree of never feeling like I belonged when WTF1 collapsed in on itself, and being a bit-part player at MS. Just sucks seeing so many immensely talented folks have the trap door fall underneath them.
