There’s a documentary screening at The Art House in Eugene on Jan 16, 17, 21 & 22 called WTO/99 about the 1999 Seattle WTO protests. Many don’t remember or know about this protest. It’s important that we do. After all, they are STILL using the same tactics.

What I find ironic is that we all only discuss WTO99 because it popped off and thus it has its political value in the story of police brutality. Otherwise it would have been forgotten like so many other actions.

Yes & - weaponized disinfo & bad actors posing as leftists or anarchists who function as controlled opposition for both of the aforementioned have broken trust & communities. What was a more cohesive left, capable of WTO99, is effectively fractured, & everyone is pointing at it instead of doing.

WTO/99 is a must-see documentary. The 1999 mass demos, and what they struggled against and how they were repressed, foreshadow the brutality of today.

You can see the film only at this special screening + discuss it with the filmmakers + trade justice leaders.

June 6 @ 1 pm | RSVP: dub.sh/WTO99
Join us on 6/6 @ 1 pm for a special screening of the new, award-winning documentary WTO/99, followed by discussion/Q&A with the filmmakers + trade justice reps.
WTO/99 transports us to the 4-day clash between 40,000+ protesters & the WTO over the threats of globalization we are living with today.

Over 25 years later, the impact of the 1999 protests of the World Trade Organization are still felt today. In WTO/99, director Ian Bell puts archived footage together to link feelings of distrust from the Battle of Seattle to how we engage with politics in today. #WTO99
