The X308-era XJR might be my all-time favorite Jaguar sedan, aesthetically. It was a really well-done styling update of what was by then a fairly archaic body shape.

I was driving the S124 and happened to pass a Jaguar X308 XJ.
It was raining, so my monoblade was wiping! And the Jag's monoblade was wiping, too!
And I found myself waving at the Jaguar driver because we both had monoblade wipers wiping!
They did not wave back.

Jaguar at the time was still using the separate Daimler marque to denote its most luxurious models. There was a 4.0 Daimler Six, plus this range-topping Daimler Double Six with its 6.0-litre V12 unit. These engines would soon give way to V8 models, with the revised X308 series.
