"arm64" and "amd64" are basically the same word, so I use neither. it's aarch64 and x86-64.

According to Valve, they managed to run pretty much all x86 games (so far) on their new ARM-based PCs thanks to this FOSS project:

github.com/FEX-Emu/FEX

This runs together with Proton to seamlessly transcode Windows x86 games for Steam OS on ARM. FOSS is THAT cool!

It can run x86-based games on an ARM-based processor using FEX. That's a huge deal and could mean an ARM-based Steam Deck down the line. github.com/FEX-Emu/FEX bsky.app/profile/pyor...

it's my turn for One Of Those blog posts:

raven-uxn now has an x86-64 backend, it's about 2× faster than the interpreter, and the first draft was written autonomously by Claude Code

That's x86-64-poo to you!

I'd love to find the dingus who decided that x64 would be the shorthand for 64 bit and x86 would be the shorthand for 32 bit.

Also totally random aside that like one follower will care about, but if you're a nerd like me and wanna get better at assembly, check this out.

An online x86-64 assembler that gives you full visibility into the registers and stack memory live as you write/step, and works great.
