Everything Leaf says is true; the one thing I’ll add is that mechanically, I advise approaching it a little less as an XCOMlike and a little more as a “slay the spire where positioning and team combos matter a lot”. Very good game! But I think the perception is part of the lukewarm reception.

I liked the story, the gameplay was fun for the first few hours until i got a good limited unit and stopped having any trouble melting everyhing, which just made me wanna play a real xcomlike instead
