Spectre and Xformer on the Atari ST made me fall in love with the magic of emulation.
An odd "Mac" for this year's #MARCHintosh.
My Atari 520ST running Spectre, a Mac emulator w/ actual Mac ROMs (user provided). Its creator called it 20% faster than Mac Plus, 30% larger desktop.

and they certainly are that, and if the question is "are LLMs good for anything" then that is important. But I suspect carving up the world of ML/LLM/xformer-enabled things in terms of use and broader architecture is the way to get to more regulatory, moral and business clarity about them.

Abt 25 yrs ago, some idiot let a big substation xformer melt at the start of a hot July 4 wkend. After 24 hours out, we and 20K of our neighbors were happy to get “4 hrs on & 4 hrs off” svc for several days til they got a new xformer in.
OTOH the star gazing was great.

Agreed. Would still overload transformer with that amount of stagger.
In our experiment, users set their departure time (~7am) and vehicles were sequenced to reduce overlap while meeting departure time preferences. Rarely (~never) more than 2 charging at once on a xformer.

i'm not necessarily down on "AI music" conceptually (generative music has been a thing for decades, rick rubin famously does not play instruments) but the xformer architecture that these companies specifically are using has limiting issues that will only be more limited on the "licensed" versions

Here is an interesting one that does not retrofit gene expression data as a weird "sequence of tokens". Instead uses a tabular Xformer architecture with some very clever loss functions as well.

Check it out. I took ComfyUI out of the Python container and installed it with my Windows Python Flash Attention 2 hybrid kernel. It's using the Hugging face Xformer acceleration on the Variational autoencoder. 20% efficiency increase and loads of attention. It's like it's on Adderall.

オーナーの所有権伝々でていてgitうんちゃらゆってみたが反応無くて起動したら伝々なくなり、生成してみたらグラボフル回転するもゲージ動かずxformer入ってるしエラーコメント検索からアレコレしたら動いたし速度上がったしハイレゾ1.5倍も動いた。ただグラボ温度70↑になって部屋が暑いわよ…
