We received some homemade passion fruit from a friend of my wife’s in Yakushima.
Enjoyed it with peaches from Fukushima and kiwifruit from New Zealand.

Yakushima Island is located in the Pacific Ocean about 60 km south of the Kagoshima mainland. The island is mostly covered with mountains and forests.
Length 56cm (22.0in). Around 1970s or 1980s. #vintage
1, Yakushima Island pennant. It is a black cloth with illustrations printed on it and decorated with yellow fringes. The precious nature of Yakushima is registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site (1993). 2, The illustrations are Mt. Miyanoura-dake, a forest (coniferous trees), Yakushima deer, a lighthouse, and a pineapple. The illustrations are humorously illustrated with pop patterns and bright fluorescent colors in some places. 3, Enlargement of the illustration. Mt. Miyanoura-dake is drawn in the shape of a bell, with clouds (fog) hanging over the top. Yakushima deer and pineapples are also depicted in this cute illustration. The magnificent lighthouse may be the Yakushima Lighthouse. 4, The title is in Japanese. The title is "Yakushima" (purple, bold gothic) in kanji. The subtitle is "Unexplored South Sea" (white, rounded pop type). The caption is "MT. MIYANOURA 1935M" (white, gothic) in English and Roman characters. An illustration of a hibiscus flower (red) is on the right side of the pennant.
