My fan profile No. 6:
I drove to Yaoicon (San Francisco) from my university (nearly Canada) all in one night TWO YEARS IN A ROW. Yes I was the only one who drove. I did ALL the driving. This is among the dumbest things I've ever done for a fan activity but GOD did I have fun!

I mean Naruto is a classic. It's one of the big three for a reason but it'd been better if they just did yaoicon lmao

Someone posted about this week being the anniversary for the first Yaoicon in 2001
And fun fact: I was there buying merch and hanging out with people I’ve long since lost touch with
I hope they’re doing well

People is a great reason to stay far away tho. If I go to an usa con onetime, I'll go to anime NYC. I would say yaoicon but that one doesn't exist anymore, and we have two big dedicated yaoi/Yuri cons in europe that are fun.
Then the only risk I'm taking is a tiny risk of el Salvador concentration

as someone who did participate in jp bl doujinshiland for a while i encountered far more gay/lesbian fujos than i encountered homophobic ones. it seems that yaoicon might think that jp-aligned fujo is *straight and problematic* but the jp fujo scene contains many queer ppl

The photo above displays some of the original works of the Minkland Basement Project.
Lovers of Ronin Warriors/Yoroiden Samurai Troopers, Gundam Wing, and other pretty boys gathered together to create magic.
The original YaoiCon was born of this.
Old fans and new, welcome!

i remember back when i went to YaoiCon that there were lesbian couples cosplaying yaoi couples (to get that pretty-boy look) which I don't think I've seen anyone do in fiction...
