The good news about this is that *probably* they'll move on to some other somewhat less foolish idea before anything happens, but alas youneverknow, given that it's all just random impulses influences.

Some filing deadlines have passed, but...If you're a Democrat and you've ever thought of running for office: Get cracking.
And state and local Dem parties? Get every damn slot filled, top to bottom of the ballot. Sure, more solid GOP seats won't become competitive, but more than ever youneverknow.

UPDATE: The Democrat won the latest batch of roughly 6,000 votes, continuing to dominate in the count.
The Election Day vote is bluer than the early vote day so far.
With 55K votes in, Rehmet is up 57% to 43%.

Sure seems more likely to end up in a impressive-but-disappointing close call, forgotten the next day, but youneverknow and all the conditions for a full-blown media frenzy/GOP panic about Trump in trouble are sure there if by some chance it does happen.
I guess youneverknow but I'll be shocked if he reaches 5% in any primary. His entire constituency appears to be pundits who have no idea where the Dem Party is. I can't think of a faction or group who won't have more appealing (to them!) options.

Still very unlikely that Dems will get to 51, but...(1) youneverknow and (2) each seat matters, both for 2027-28 but also for the next four years after that.
The best the party can do is make sure it's ready to compete everywhere. Off to a good start.

*Probably* Johnson can get through another clean CR, right? The one thing he's been good at is passing party-line must-pass measures. But with lots of reports about how upset his conference is...who knows? There's never been an extended shutdown caused by accident or mismanagement, but youneverknow.
Just a reminder that funding runs out for a big chunk of the government (not all) on Jan. 30, one month from today. 9 of the 12 yearly government funding bills remain unfinished. The original spending deadline was Sept. 30.
