zenos, a garlean man canon to the world of final fantasy 14, brings his gunblade down defensively. he has long blonde hair, and is wearing a tastefully slutty, open-chested red top. his third eye, which looks like a golden pearl, is on his forehead. he is speaking to himself in the throes of combat: "what manner of voidsent is this? none that i've seen, i'll wager." zenos then drops to the ground, taking a knee to brace his impact. a blackguard, a voidsent that appears like an armored angel with large, red wings, hovers menacingly over him - this is his opponent. he continues to speak to himself: "...and i find myself at a disadvantage." zenos raises his gunblade, a large black and red weapon with a sword-like blade and a revolving chamber, at the blackguard, as if taunting it. his dialogue continues: "no matter. there is an elation to being both predator and prey." the blackguard raises its leg to prepare an attack. it is buckled in on itself, like how a soccer player would prepare for a bicycle kick. though offscreen, zenos continues his dialogue: "i dare not survive another attack from this beast without proper reinforcements."

zenos is still offscreen, with only his arm outstretched towards the beast. only his palm and the cuff of his red-sleeved shirt are visible. his dialogue continues: "so come, beast of the void and show me..." zenos has sheathed his weapon on his back, and his expression is that of preparation as he activates the gunbreaker invulnerability ability, "superbolide". this comic makes a reference to an older version of the ability, where it would bring the tank down to 1hp and allow them to be invulnerable. zenos quotes his infamous line: "a test of your reflexes!" offscreen, revre speaks: "on whose goddamn authority?!". at the sound of her voice, zenos appears surprised, or perhaps disappointed, that he is not alone on the battlefield. offscreen, revre uses an ability called "benediction", a white mage ability that restores any target to their full health, counteracting zenos' use of superbolide. his expression changes to smug now as he almost taunts her, his dialogue continuing: "ah, there you are, dove. right on time."

from behind him, revre - a viera (rabbit) woman wearing a very scantily clad outfit of black and gold cloth and armor approaches. she is short and pale, with dark hair and two short rabbit ears on the top of her head. in her hands is a golden staff, and her expression is angry. she addresses zenos directly: "don't you fucking start. what are you bloody thinking, using that ability? we don't even know if it *works,* yet." despite her upset, revre joins zenos on the battlefield, standing close to him as if they are lovers. she only comes up to his shoulder in height, so zenos bends gently to address her, his body shielding her on the battlefield. he has withdrawn his weapon from his back and points it now at the off-screen blackguard, and revre points her staff at it, as well. zenos looks amused as he responds, "what better way to discover the truth, if not in bloodshed? do forgive me, won't you?" the frame pans to a cover-up angle of revre. taunting him back, revre's expression and posing are that of authority: she is in control, in this dynamic, and zenos follows her commands. she addresses him directly: "you can make it up to me by killing that thing. it's interrupted my bath." zenos returns his attention to the blackguard off screen, his expression more serious and bloodthirsty now. he finishes the comic with a haunting piece of dialogue: "as you wish."
