In regular inter partes disputes I'd agree this sort of thing would be a good idea. Don't see a need here for it, the regulator is independent and contrary extraordinary circs shoukd be fine to have access

The SRA may appeal - I can't comment on prospects because it's not my area.

but the Government shouldn't run the risk of having the solicitors' regulator unable to regulate the profession properly.

The Government should change the law.

This is an incredibly damaging judgment. Cases that will be affected include the PO Scandal investigations.

A new High Court judgment has blown a large hole in the regulation of the solicitors' profession.

The Solicitors Regulation Authority will now have great difficulty investigating SLAPP, and other cases where a client's solicitor harms other parties.
