I think the arch nonsense is more about claiming a ludicrous security purpose in the litigation like he did for the ballroom. But the general point is true: he has absolutely no intention of a peaceful transfer of power in Jan 2029, and planning and preparation for that is no doubt already underway.

I'm but a simple country theoretical physicist, so I assume that modern military strategy involves placing all your defensive ordinance in a well-known prominent immobile structure. Now to take a big gulp of coffee and read this wikipedia page about the opening offensives of WWII.

The reason not to triangulate against trans people isn't that it's bad politics (although I believe it is) or unnecessary (although I believe it is).

It's because YOU MUST NOT ABANDON THE VULNERABLE TO DEPRAVED PEOPLE WHO WILL DO THEM HARM. If we will, what's the point of anything else we do?

A mostly invisible force shaping politics in the Trump era—esp since 2025—is his ability to summon threats of violence & death against his opponents to such a degree it's become a material factor in political actors' decision making.

I think a good term for this is "stochastic brownshirtism."
