One of my favourites, one of my early poems here from a #vss365 prompt. The poem is on the challenges of living with an unpredictable #ChronicIllness and appreciation for #Caregivers

Dunno if this is my favorite, or best (as there is little distance between my best and worst). But it is my Braveheart speech to poets and creators all. ❤️

Sept 30 is National Day for Truth and Reconciliation in Canada to acknowledge cultural genocide of Indigenous Peoples, honour survivors, and work to grow together with mutual respect. This is my offering.

Golden larch forest, alpine meadow:
Sacred places where I want to stay.
How did I dare enter there,
Knowing I must go away?

#SomethingEveryday #HappyGoose

The happy goose found her perfect nesting site. The camper top was high, dry and warm in the sun. That she had to defend the spot from attacks with numerous snowballs and a few brooms only confirmed it's desirability. Given all this, she was shocked when every egg

There once was a girl who liked limericks
But hated when people were big dicks
So she'd take up a pen
Write a verse about them
So her laughter could shimmer quick

I'm reposting this poem for #SomethingEveryday #Pirate which apparently also works for #PoetsOfDoom #prompt although I can't remember exactly what form @daveashleypoet.bsky.social specified that I dubbed "Ashlean" 😆

@sonnetsmith.bsky.social I still hope to plunder some prose...

#SomethingEveryday #RiceCrispyCakes #fail

Early in the pandemic, I bought a “spring edition” of Rice Crispies that featured some green and blue crispies. Since all was snow and mud outdoors, I planned to boost our spirits by making them into cakes, shaped as flowers. I had never made them before.

Cool evenings close warm days
the golden hour, hours long
early autumn: summer's swan song

The floods
themselves washed away
left the old crusty banks
as new riverbed under-quilts
the secret swing hangs still, over their musty damp

There, join I
upside-down
rise - soar - crown
fall - arc - fly

The evenings are cool now
with the long golden hours
of summer's swan song that is early autumn

The floods
that have washed themselves away
made crusty old banks bow down
into fresh lining for the riverbed
still damp beneath the secret swing

So, I, too
ascend
soar
crown
fall
upside
down

I do not know.
What do you see in me?
What colours are the shades you are looking through?

Perhaps the lenses are green.
It would explain why you walk over me, all the time,...

Third response for how we "use" math every day. As my newly 18 year old son says: engineering = applied physics = applied math. Even if you don't remember, it's good to have

What bears needed load?
Why do bridges last so long?
Answer: triangles! 😃

For the changing curve
You need the hypotenuse
Formula's input

(There was no line tool, so excuse my badly drawn ones. The hypotenuse provides the diameter and then radius to calculate the new curve needed so the counter fit in the space.)

Inspired by @jenthorne.bsky.social's poem, this is also a pre-Bluesky write where I challenged myself to create a poem using the titles of every book and magazine that were on my coffee table.

References are listed in the comment.

("Look Away" by Chicago)

When you’re missing hours of sun
Not ready for Autumn
Look away, Baby, look away

When leaves first turn gold and brown
And have fallen to the ground
Look away, Baby, look away

But you love trails outside
So I guess you have to see the waaaaay
