The twins are supposed to go on a school trip to DC next yr and I feel bad cuz idk if I can do it. They won’t go without me and I don’t want to pay $9,000 (and I do mean $9k) for a trip to DC

This is where I’m at with it. Bc not every Black school is underfunded or underperforming. But a well performing Black school wouldn’t have made the same point and she knows the NYT audience is looking for a Lean On Me story not A Different World.
Cuz my thing is, I could’ve put ur kid in a black school with mixed income, or with black professionals that have some support and resources to provide ur kid. To waste everybody time like that and play in everybody face for the plot is something

This is such an excellent . Racism is quite simply baked into the American system. I practice employment law, and while technically racism is illegal, there is a certain amount of tolerable racism that is allowable per caselaw. And that’s just where we are in this country. 
The outright refusal to treat white supremacy as an ideology which motivates action and treat it as generally objectionable is what allows this strategy to be viable for Elon Musk.
