I have started hoarding all my money in a mattress. The mattress is huge, uncomfortable. And I am running out of food and water. But look at how much money I have! I can’t wait for the grocery stores to come crawling to me to get some! But I won’t give them any. I’m no sucker!

I love The Linda Lindas, but watching these kids grow into adults reminds me of my ongoing withering flesh.

Found a Spanish edition collecting the Archie Goodwin-Gil Kane Tarzan Sunday stripes from 1979-81. Not sure it's ever been collected in English. Gorgeous Gil stuff.

Pretending the days after Sept. 11, 2001 were some kind of gauzy Hallmark special when we came together as a country is nauseating and ahistorical. The country went completely insane and has not recovered

Okay, so... weird thing. Some of you know this.

Twenty-five years ago I was working on a SciFi Channel show called THE CHRONICLE.

Twenty-five years ago *tonight* --September 10, 2001-- we'd just wrapped filming on the episode "Man and Superman."

Want to guess what it was about?

I’ll be at ArmadilloCon in Austin this weekend. If you’re in the area, feel free to stop in and see me and a bunch of other even cooler writers. You’ll be glad you did.

Whenever I read a werewolf story with “alphas” I always think that, in this story, these characters have adopted a cultural conceit based on movies.

Like mobster culture copying The Godfather, which happened.

So basically, most stories are werewolves copying a culture that never existed.

One of the worst What-Ifs.

What If the Punisher didn’t become the Punisher?

He becomes the Punisher!
In the history of What If?, there has never been a What If-ier What If? than What If Frank Castle's Family Hadn't Been Killed? (They Would Have Still Been Killed, Actually)

Humans anthropomorphocized the weather, the sea, volcanoes, and (via ghost hunting) little beeps coming out of an electric box. It would be weird if an LLM couldn’t fool us.
"people are anthropomorphizing LLMs because they are so astonishingly good at processing human thought and language" people will anthropomorphize a chair if you put the stitches in the right place.

Tried to post on my site, but the latest update is determined to shove AI in my face while removing simple useful tools I used. Because…the future?

Anyway, new book out. Here’s the Amazon link but buy wherever you like.

I’m an old-ish man and it’s weird seeing the same patterns unfold over and over again.

Every generation thinks the next is weaker, more sensitive, less capable.

The terminology and justification changes, but it is a constant.

Sent off a new project to my agent. New idea and medium. Will it pay off? Who knows? But at least I’m taking my shot.

To jump off this, if I’m at a con, please don’t feel obligated to come up with something clever before talking to me. Unless you catch me in the first hour of the first day, odds are good I’m not clever at that exact moment either. You can grunt “Book good!” and I’ll grunt “Yay!” and we’re fine.
I would presume that the best thing* to say to an author at a con is "Wow; I loved "cool detail in your obscure work that no fan usually mentions"; have a great day!" followed by a generic "I love your work; it's great to see you here." *Unless it is "I am a Media CEO; here is $$$$ for options."

I love that every page of this comic feels like it should make sense in context, but that in context, it makes even less sense.

My 14th novel, Unbearable, is out today. Here’s the Amazon link, but purchase wherever you like. I won’t complain.

It’s about a dragon that might eat the universe, a sword, and the dumb guy who is in charge of that sword.

It’s good.

Don’t worry if you don’t end up understanding it. We didn’t either.
The time has come to unleash the madness that is @aleemartinez.bsky.social, @benreilly149.bsky.social, and I talking about 1993’s RAVER #1.

I have not been the same since we recorded it. Perhaps I’ll never be the same again.
