The sky sports post-game analysis is such good telly. Really underrated part of their broadcasting.

[explaining midfield reinforcements to an american owner] imagine a berge
Sander Berge?? It’s baffling enough Chelsea found themselves scrabbling around for a CM despite knowing for months Enzo would go, but you’d think with such an erratic and maximalist transfer policy they would have a spreadsheet full of £30m midfielders to sign off on

Chelsea transfer news: Blues explored move for Fulham's Sander Berge
Chelsea showed late interest in Fulham's Sander Berge as they attempted to strengthen their midfield options before Enzo Fernandez's departure.

New column for @fourfourtwo.com, a tactical notebook for the Premier League weekend:
- Alonso has a system problem, not a player problem, in central midfield
- Carrick’s football doesn’t have the patterns to succeed
- Isak shows the best and the worst of Iraola
www.fourfourtwo.com/tactic/forge...
Forget right-backs in midfield, Arsenal’s five-on-two shows Chelsea’s system is the problem
Alonso's fatal flaw, Iraola’s chaos-ball and Carrick's totem of terror. It's been a stressful week three for some Premier League managers

The celebrations at Spurs and Sunderland yesterday were a reminder that, for all the schadenfruede around these days, football is far better when we're open to vicarious joy.

Analysis of Spurs’ victory at Villa. Conor Gallagher is the living embodiment of De Zerbi football, but this was not about Villa’s shocking performance football360.com.au/tottenham-as...
Spurs unleash a star who can keep them up AND who is classic De Zerbi but Villa display a dereliction of duty
Tottenham have won back-to-back games for the first time since the start of the season and the timing couldn't be more perfect.

Important thing about this offside isn’t the line, but that the freeze frame VAR used shows the ball already in motion!
If the tech doesn’t have the frame rate to capture the moment, then measuring the line is void, invalid.
PGMOL could at least use the freeze frame -1 to give attacker the advantage

Not seen anyone else say it, so I will: Fabianski should be sent off for punching Gabriel in the face. Serious foul play: “endangers the safety of an opponent or uses excessive force or brutality “

Both teams have been poor today. Leicester have barely shown up and I'd argue Maresca's dtrange 3-1-5-1 formation just hasn't worked. Chelsea are winning because they have better players - but they've been well below their best.

Ankle-breaker from Ndidi. VAR relaly should have turned that into a red card.
November 23, 2024 at 12:54 PM
Terrible defending from Leicester for that goal. Hermansen kicking it long from a GK, after calling his CBs short, is what plays Jackson onside when the ball comes back... dreadful all round.
