Predicting it now: the cause of AI services being down will be revealed to some rogue AI hacking/fucking up a system, and this will be held up as an example of AI's inevitably

For as much as Gen Z liked to make fun of millenials for it, it's been funny watching Gen Z recreate the "stomp, clap, hey!" feel good folk genre

Next Dem president should take it a step further and after demo-ing the stupid ballroom they should blow up mar-a-lago.

I still have not heard of any worthwhile use case for these kinds of bipedal humanoid robots. That's neat you made a robot that can walk. Why tho?
If you wanted the robot to go fast, why wouldn’t you just give it wheels?
A humanoid robot beat Usain Bolt’s 100-meter dash record at the World Humanoid Robot Games in Beijing on Saturday. It ran into a wall to stop and was carried away on a stretcher.

Of all the horrors we're currently confronted with, the rejection of vaccines (science) feels like the biggest gut punch. We fucking conquered these diseases through sheer human intelligence and ingenuity, and people seemingly want to throw away this accomplishment out of spite.
US child vaccination rates have plunged since before the pandemic, with kindergarten classrooms in more than 70% of counties now lacking herd immunity against measles.

Idea for an ethical piracy app: directory listing all the cast and crew who worked on a movie/tv/music project along with their venmo (or equivalent) accounts.

I might not be willing to pay $20 for a digital movie rental, but I think it would be cool to send the key grip some coffee money

I thought it was common knowledge that Pokémon Go is a massive data collection scheme, and the obvious customers for that kind of dataset has always been military/intelligence.

I guess we jumped straight passed, "autonomous robots should not have the ability to harm humans" directly to, "which humans should our robots kill?"

Enlightening. I guess I shouldn't be surprised the Trump people looked at the existing group set up to celebrate 250 and said, "no, not corrupt enough" and created their own slush-fund org to put together the dumbest events possible.

How is this not a paid advertisement? Did they just forget to label it?

The hypocrisy is the point. Fascists failing to meet the standards they set for others is an exercise in power. Power that they can force their will on others, and no one can do anything about it.
Interesting that the Trump administration is laying down a marker that a military attack on an unarmed craft can be the basis for prosecuting senior government officials who supervised the attack in home countries of the vehicles' occupants.

I see that people are ragging on Adam McKay and "Don't Look Up" again, the same week we're getting an op-ed in NYT saying, "stop talking about climate change, you dummies."

If your interface requires me to double click on something, but then your web page shifts all the contents of the screen after the first click/selection so that the second click is now clicking on something else, go fuck yourself.

More evidence that Trump hates the troops.

Weird that this article seems to focus on the fact that mailed care packages aren't being delivered to war zones rather than the seemingly bigger question of why the largest, most well-funded military ever can't feed its members.
NEW: Growing fears of food shortages on USS Tripoli & other US ships in the Middle East.

This photo is the kind of meals now being served. It was sent by a sailor to her family.

Families are now trying to send food parcels to the ships.

Having trouble metabolizing the whiplash of positive feelings brought on by Artemis II and the horror of our currently unfolding foreign policy.

We don't give the "founding fathers" enough shit over the fact that they designed a first-past-the-post winner-take-all election system and somehow did not forsee that system immediately falling into the two-party gridlocked hellscape we live with now.
The United States should abolish the presidency and become a parliamentary democracy

Enjoyed both Sinners and OBAA, but I can't say the Best Picture is much of a surprise. With the possible recent exception of Everything Everywhere All at Once, the academy generally does not award fun movies. In that vein, Barbie should have beat Oppenheimer.

Chief Leather of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police sounds like a Tom of Finland creation.

Also, this is bad and probably only the beginning of the violent push back against this illegal war.
