It really sucks that Pulaski, Addison, and Kimball are the only highway crossings in that area.

Hi, do you bike with kids on a cargo/family bike in the winter? I’d love to update my winter bike clothing guide to mention this but don’t have kids, so I’m soliciting help! Please let me know if you’d be willing to provide some perspective/experience and I’m happy to credit you on the guide.

The subtext here is that recreational cyclists are elitists slowing down the hard-working drivers.

I'd ask: How does she know they're recreational cyclists? I commuted in kit on a road bike for years.

And also: Why does someone riding for fun not deserve safety? How does she feel about runners?

Driving is not a fundamental right. Operating a motor vehicle requires sound judgment, self-control, and regard for the lives and health of other people - and if you demonstrate that you don't have those qualities, you should never be allowed behind the wheel of a motor vehicle.

My most authoritarian belief is that the highway patrol should have portable car crushers and if you do this many illegal and dangerous things on the road your car should simply be cubed on the spot.
Sup @mayor.nyc.gov it's ya boy Aaron and I saw this guy driving the wrong way through a red down 7th Avenue. Considering he's got almost $10K in tickets in judgment I think the prison from Face/Off and turning his car into an artificial reef would be justified

Put another way, that's almost 3 times what a person would make--gross, not net--per year at a job paying the current minimum wage of 7.25/hr--you know, the wage Mitch voted against raising his entire career.
Kentucky has gone 92 days without a second senator and without a straight answer about why. McConnell collected $43,500 in that stretch, more than the average Kentuckian makes in a year, and his office banked another $893,000 while refusing to say anything.

Mitch McConnell has taken in a five-figure sum during his prolonged absence from work.

Medicare for all, abolishing ICE, student loan forgiveness …

But The Democrats see their real base as corporate donors, voters are merely a means to their end of getting donations.
There’s a bizarre contrarianism in the Democratic Party, where, if an idea catches on with the base it’s treated as presumptively unreasonable forever. Not even an effort to *appear* to be supportive. Politicians used to pander!

it's gross to frame tolerance of loud car noises in cities as progressive solidarity with authentic working class urban life

ignoring that poor people drive the least and suffer the most from car noise, and that most loud cars are expensive and intentional consumption not broken mufflers

Talked with a friend today about DLSD. It’s annoying because you can’t get around the fact that a lot of people rely on the lakefront highway and turning it into a boulevard or busway or whatever would make things more difficult or time consuming for some people!

the best answer is unflinching support of trans folks in every aspect of life

but if you’re going to evade the question the least you could do is reject their entire premise, ridicule the question, and ridicule the interviewer, such as below

you don’t need to meet them halfway or even an inch
WATTERS & EL-SAYED.

Watters: Do you think men should play women's sports?

El-Sayed: I'm running for U.S. Senate. It's insane. I'm out here trying to take on the health care crisis and big pharma, and you're asking me about who gets to play what sports. It's silly. People can't take you seriously.

Get the word out about these and coming NITA job openings. NITA should be a magnet for talent from around the globe (and from within the Chicago region and transit operations agencies).
Want to help shape the future of transit in Northern Illinois? NITA is hiring for several key roles that will have a direct hand in building a safer, more seamless, more rider-focused regional transit system.

A few exciting opportunities open right now:

This is one of several reasons I’m not a huge nuclear energy proponent. Sure it’s cleaner and more predictable than wind and solar and the risks are very low if everything is working right. But we are simply too unreliable as a species to be 100% responsible and the wrong move could easily end life.
Just in case you ever have impostor syndrome, remember that in 2011, workers at Los Alamos National Laboratory brought six kilograms of plutonium together to take a picture to show their management. The amount was enough to start a chain nuclear reaction if they had been slightly closer.

3 things about Dem politicians who dabble in transphobia:

1. It's wrong, they're wrong, on a moral basis they're being evil
2. It's stupid, they're stupid, they'll never get any credit from the fascists for it
3. It's proof you're not capable of reading or rising to this, and therefore any, moment

There’s such an easy answer to this “gotcha” question and it’s “Sports are inherently unsafe and unfair and it’s ridiculous to single out trans athletes when we allow 150 pound linebackers to go up against 260 pound linemen in freshman football on a daily basis. Let kids play with their friends.”
Talarico: "I oppose trans athletes playing in girls' sports if it endangers safety or fairness"
