Half the people I absolutely NEED to do their jobs so I can do mine are out of the office today, there's no one here that's cross-trained for those jobs (see above Out of Office) and I need to leave early for a dentist appointment.

My direct report became my peer this week. I'm super happy for him bc he absolutely deserves the promotion, but we both also realize that this change to our dynamic is dangerous bc we're catty bitches who now have even less reason to hold back our dunks on each other.

My mum scheduled the water softener company to come out today bc our softener hasn't been working for several months. They best appt time they could give us was "between 9am and 2pm" so I had to take the whole day off to be here.

I'm going to have to start tracking occurrences of thunderstorms in days where I end up with both (NOT small!) dogs in my bed at night.
I'm beginning to suspect there's a correlation here. And a distinct shortage of available mattress space for someone with less than 4 legs.

Based on the conversation I partially overheard this morning, it sounds like my director got chewed out for our questions anyway. 🙃
My uni president decided to "stop by" our dept today so we could ask him questions about the direction the university is going.
Dude got a little frustrated bc we had all sort decided that we weren't going to get our asses added to the layoff list and we're only asking super softball stuff.

Once again, I am just a small-town international relations professor, standing here, begging our media & our Congress to take our most important signed, ratified international treaty seriously & threats by the One Special Boy to violate it as the presidency-ending scandal that it should have been.

The biggest downside to drugging my dog to the gills is that she's already a picky eater & the meds kill what little remains of her appetite.
It's taken me all morning to coax/trick her into eating her small breakfast & I still have to make sure she eats enough at dinner to have meds again tonight.
