Excited to share a new preprint! We address a longstanding question related to stratifying tissues:

What are the physical mechanisms that drive epidermal cell delamination?

Awesome new paper led by @luanger.bsky.social uncovering a feedback between anisotropy of the internal tissue stress, cell division orientation and cell cycle duration in dense epithelia!
Glad to have contributed a tiny bit to this nice story.
Take a look 👇
What determines how epithelial cells divide when shape cues disappear?
Our new work in @natcomms.nature.com shows that divisions follow maximal stress anisotropy — a “principal-stress rule” beyond Hertwig’s long-axis rule.
Fantastic work led by @luanger.bsky.social

Not every cell react the same way to caspase activation. In our recent study (led by @tomcumming.bsky.social and initiated by @avillars.bsky.social ), we tried to better understand what explains this difference and outlined a role of past caspase exposure 👇
