This whole saga has very much reminded me that most readers (and apparently some fiction writers too!) believe that writing narrative non-fiction is stenography: you find out the facts and then you write them down in order.

Whereas it is absolutely, 100% considered storytelling!
I do not have a take on the two books called Charity and Sylvia because I have not read either one. I do have a related thought, as a historical fiction writer, which is that we don't talk enough about how much research for fiction draws on the framing/storytelling that historians and biographers do

A proper pinch-me moment this week as Rex Juba was turned into an audio book, narrated by the lovely Sebastian Humphreys, whose voice you might recognise as the narrator of Madeline E Miller’s Circe amongst other things. Here he is, pronouncing yet another difficult Roman name!
