An excellent thread on the whole "Rogue AI" bollocks
I did a somewhat deep dive into the recent OpenAI and Anthropic "hacks" for an upcoming interview.

IMO, the AI companies are better off running with the "rogue AI" story because the real story is actually pretty embarrassing.

Like making your Wi-Fi password "wifi" embarrassing. 🧵

"people are anthropomorphizing LLMs because they are so astonishingly good at processing human thought and language" people will anthropomorphize a chair if you put the stitches in the right place.

These little buggers seem hardwired to frustrate photographers. Did manage to catch this though

For just $500 US Dollarydoos you too can get a toothbrush with a camera in it so that it can work out when to squirt water between your teeth.

You can also stream the video to your phone, if that's your sort of thing

So I just realised, that the very first Podcast I ever did is now 21 years old.

The Linux Australia Update lasted for about a year, putting out a new episode once a fortnight.

I've still got the files, I should really put them up.

Apropos of nothing I come back to this song.

Inspired by a passage in Night Watch by Terry Pratchett, this is an amazing rendition of All The Little Angels Rise Up

Just a gentle reminder.

LLMs do not have feelings, they are not sentient, they are literally tools to be used or discarded as we see fit.

That is all

Huh, just realised that I'm pretty much the only one posting to #WheelchairPhotography. Are you a photographer who uses a wheelchair? I'd love to see what you shoot

I work at a radio station. Before the advent of AI, I listened to most of the new music we received to know if it was any good. Now, whenever I receive a song with AI-generated image, I don't even press play, I know it's gonna be crap. I don't feel even remotely guilty for it.

Here's a question for #Photographers of Bluesky. When you share your photos, do you prefer to upload directly here, or share a link to a third party site like Instagram/Pixelfed/Flickr etc etc.

Yeah nah, sorry, if you're not putting the words down then you are not the author, at best you're the editor.
Dean of Science at Stellenbosch University writes that although AI generates almost all the words for his articles (including this one):

"AI did almost all of the writing. I remain the expert and the thought leader behind the piece."

www.nature.com/articles/d44...
When AI writes the words, who is the author?
After an AI detector classified one of my opinion pieces as entirely AI-generated, I found myself questioning where authorship ends, where expertise begins and what readers deserve to know.
