Crazy to think I reviewed Jason’s (incredible) book 5 years ago, jaw dropped the whole way, thinking ‘this industry is fucked sideways but better days are definitely coming’. Yet, nothing has changed, or at least not for the better, in the AAA space.
The video game industry has always been volatile (I published Press Reset in 2021!) but the skeleton key to understanding the current state of things is this: Big games now cost 10x to make what they did 15 years ago but most do not generate even close to 10x the revenue. Simple as that
