Hello fellow social platform refugees. I'm a children's book author-illustrator with a deep love of science and history and people in cafes and bars whispering the resistance into life.
Hoping the ICC is extraordinarily busy in the years ahead.

Reading to my children every night was one of the greatest joys of my life.
We are destroying our world and our societies by letting men like this make our decisions. We must immediately end rule by sociopaths.

"...modern humans and Neanderthals shared the European landmass for 2,600 to 5,400 years—roughly twenty to forty human generations longer than the entirety of recorded human history from the building of the Great Pyramid of Giza to the launch of the James Webb Space Telescope."

An amazing read:

This is your occasional reminder that generative "AI" in particular could have been developed on public domain materials and/or licensed and compensated works but the major players intentionally, methodically and systemically chose to steal labor from working creative folks instead

Yes every woman has been harassed, many assaulted. But every woman has also experienced invisible loss from moments she avoided harassment. She felt a space becoming unsafe, so she left, while men stayed on. And in leaving, she lost: opportunities, experiences, learning, promotions, even simply fun.

Illustration, writing, and now lucid dreaming. Tech has come for everything I've spent a lifetime intensely developing.

Going to luddite my ass into a peaceful forest or cave for the 2nd half.
Lucid dreams, when a person is aware they're dreaming and can often control them, could be induced in people who rarely experience them

I was on a flight and the pilot and copilot were in the cockpit being furries and I saw one of the furries and the furry looked at me!
Tommy Tuberville: Many airline pilots, flight attendants, and air traffic controllers are part of the furry community. It's terrifying.

“Largest theft of labor in human history.” What a quote.
Eye popping. Court just unsealed Summary Judgment motions in New York Times v OpenAI / Microsoft.
Easy to see why the AI companies had so many redactions (pink). Their own people wrote the lede for NYT, the "largest theft of labor in human history"... "more and more substitutive..." /1

I read Grapes of Wrath for the first time this year. Every few beautifully-written pages you can find a passage that perfectly describes America today. Enjoy your Labor Day, friends.

Just stupids. Absolute stupids everywhere we turn.
This sounded especially bizarre to me. So I looked it up.

Duffy seems to have confused the EPA ending a credit for “engines that automatically turn off when vehicles come to a complete stop and restart when drivers take their feet off the brake pedal” with the START buttons that are now universal.
Sean Duffy: "You know the stop/start button on your car? I hate that thing. Thank you Lee Zeldin! He's gotten rid of it and the first cars without the stop/start button are rolling off the line."
