the empire is dying and i think we will all live to see it
We must focus on lowering costs for the American people, not starting new wars on a whim with no tangible strategy.

Porn and erotica are important and societally valuable forms of speech, and the defense of them, in the face of state and church attempts at repression, is a necessary political act.

yeah, I’m not in the “teaching people responsibility” business, I’m in the “getting books and materials to people because that’s what libraries are for” business 📚
That’s a critique. Ok. Well, it’s not about money. It’s about responsibility. You take the book and you agree to get it back by a certain date. It’s not hard. If you don’t read it in time you can always check it out again. But be organized enough to honour the contract.

my best friend engaging artists from all over the world through a single post, i love youu!!!
🩵I always think art is such a powerful outlet. Rather its photography, sketching, painting, writing-ect. What matters is you are creating or capturing something only you can. It doesn’t matter if its good or bad. Just as long as you enjoy it🩵

Excited to finally announce the release of my first ever book, and the first ever book from we here press. It is a pocket-size guide to my archival theories and experiences in the form of essays- some you may have heard in part as lectures, some which are unpublished until now.

the way this doesn’t surprise me because LIS at its root is so deeply conservative, like we have so many library and information professionals supporting policing in libraries, and continue to support and use neoliberal frameworks to describe library operations like

This is why the kind of work that Mutual Aid Disaster Relief and @distributeaid.org are doing is SO important - building networks to share resources and info, and to coordinate getting aid where it needs to go as efficiently as possible:

People living under fascism didn’t survive by giving up joy—they protected it.
They held onto the things fascism tried to erase: art, friendship, jokes, rituals, language, memory.
Not as escapism but as resistance. As proof they were still human.
Joy isn’t frivolous under fascism. It’s strategic.

many professional organizations will often claim neutrality or sympathy when something drastic happens in terms of human rights or people losing access to their basic needs - but if you look behind the scenes at who they support and fund - you’ll always see that neutrality is an illusion
It's a sad & harmful day for patients & health care across the U.S., & its impact will reverberate for years. This bill moves us in the wrong direction. It will make it harder to access care & make patients sicker because the lifelines of Medicaid & CHIP are severed. http://spr.ly/633284mR2n

Names are how we’re remembered, but through the centuries, they were stripped away from enslaved people who were documented only as property.

oh nooo not the dems losing their voter base CAUSE THEY SUCK!
BREAKING: NYC’s Mayoral election is on Tuesday. We encourage voters not to rank Zohran Mamdani. He didn’t endorse Kamala Harris, doesn’t support our platform, and if he wins, his policies will hurt our chance to win the midterms. We can’t afford that. For more: open.substack.com/pub/demwinsm...
