Yes, I'm in an echo chamber, echoing over and over: "Be a good person. Be good to yourself. Be good to others."
I'll take it.

This loser wants you to believe he’s a warrior. He’s not. He’s a war criminal. He belongs in prison.

#OctoberWorldbuilders With abundant edible sea life, and kilometer-deep drop-offs on all sides right offshore, net fishing is a significant part of life on The Island. One of my MCs, Loic, weaves nets, but his skill is dwarfed by that of the woman called Netweaver, who lives high Up in FirstDay.
Good morning, #OctoberWorldbuilders! This week is dedicated to the work and jobs done by people in your fictional world. Today's Q: What are some common jobs done by people in your setting? For instance, is it medieval with lots of farmers? A spaceship with engineers? Something else?

Spent some time working on marketing assets for Brett Edward Stout's (@brettedwardstout.com) Tales of Olta (his upcoming inclusive school of magic stories). Lots to do, but it's looking pretty excellent. #BookSky

Absentee voting rocks. I can vote by mail, OR by FAX. (I chose fax, using an online fax service, to be sure the vote arrived EARLY.) And I confirmed that it has already been counted. Frankly, I think every citizen should have that option.

To everyone who follows me who likes stories that are gothic, gay themed, involve magic/angels/demons/etc., and/or social justice (of a sort), Breur Media is offering the short story ebook "Blue Lapis" FOR FREE because it's been falsely flagged for objectionable content.
YOU be the judge. #BookSky

Want a free "gay gothic" short story ebook?
For some reason, "Blue Lapis" was deemed "unacceptable for distribution" on D2D. We're appealing, but atm it's not available as an individual short story… So we're offering it for free if you join our our email list. #BookSky

On YouTube, IF you interrupt your video with an ad AND there's no marker for me to jump to to get past that ad — and ESPECIALLY if you don't even pause to say it's time to promote your video's sponsor...

If you’re looking for proof that American politics and media are the most powerful propaganda system in human history, consider that barely anyone can easily afford the basic necessities needed to survive and yet the discourse is mostly about everything other than that

Managed to finish the map of the village this weekend. WHEW! 125 hours of work.
I wonder if I should make a photoshop timelapse of these things. 🤔

My whole strategy of building in-universe bonus materials that expand on the lore of the setting is going according to plan and according to schedule.

#LitHodgepodge (13) The Island's villages and festivals (on the ocean planet Celesta) would be quite archetypal, despite most buildings outside of FirstDay being grown from house-vines rather than being constructed things — a hot-pie is a hot-pie, after all, whatever the local culture might call it!
#LitHodgepodge 13
Archetypal settings tap into the built-in symbolism of recognizable spaces. There’s a cave? We might uncover hidden truths. A 24/7 diner in a mystery? Prime setting for info exchange.
What’s an archetypal setting in your WIP? How do you use it?

An October Prompt Game of Miscellaneous Proportions
TUESDAY TROPES
[Graphic of an old man wanderer, with a sack on his back and a long walking stick, and a black cat]
Prompt:
13 | Tell us about an archetypal setting in your WIP. What is it, and how does it function in the story? How do you utilize, and possibly subvert, expected patterns? Feel free to share a snip.
[Graphic of a talking crow]
Examples of archetypal settings range from the broadly symbolic, such as the maze, the garden, or the wasteland, to more genre-specific tropes, like the tavern in fantasy novels or the small town with a dark secret in thrillers.
