I do stuff with computers and like loud music. Talk a lot about politics especially when #vinb is on. Also @[email protected] and @astarmain on the fail whale.

If an Irish newspaper doesn’t run a “Senior Orangeman Calls For A United Ireland” headline, then the newspapers are dead.

Astrophotographer Adam (AJ) Smadi caught this image a few hours ago from Washington state.

A thin crescent Moon, sunlight illuminating the rugged lunar surface.

And 2,400 times farther away—and on the other side of the Sun—mighty Jupiter, and its moons Io (left) and Ganymede (right).

I don't want to be more in line with the rest of the EU on citizenship. I want us to repeal the fucking 27th Amendement and return to our own tradition of birthright citizenship instead of the jus sanguinis shite that tells people born and reared here they aren't Irish if they have immigrant parents
Planned changes to Irish citizenship requirements will ensure that new citizens have an “understanding” of the country and its values, the Taoiseach has said. jrnl.ie/7154915

Just finished reading @gilduran.com book The Nerd Reich. I knew some of the actors, but not how closely tied they all are and how fucked up their world view is. At the end he says no need for the guillotine, but it's getting close to that point.

You go all the way to Belgium for a gig and then find a free open air show in the middle of town on your way back to the hotel.

Well that was a blast. Kings of Thrash featuring Dave Ellefson and Jeff Young playing all the classic 80s Megadeth tunes. Hook in Mouth is such a banger.

Following on from yesterday's new all-time high for solar, two charts to illustrate the rapid rise of solar power in Ireland between 2022 and 2026:
- peak output on the sunniest days: ~100MW -> ~1400MW
- annual production: ~130GWh -> >1500GWh (we project)

In both cases, >10x in just 5 years ☀️ 📈

Had a dream about an album I haven't listened to in at least 25 years. Quick spin this morning and it's still pretty good. Won't be a regular play but won't be 25 years either. youtube.com/playlist?lis...

Every country should have an Electrification Czar except that person should be called the Chargé d’Affaires d’Affaires de Charger.
Not sure if 2026 will offer a better fast charging photo 😅

Today is the first day since March (excluding nights we charged the car) that we produced less solar electricity than we consumed over a 24 hour period. Mix of cloudy weather and the kids baking.

Calling on the Irish government and state agencies to immediately close their X accounts. Continued use of a fascist agitator's social media site is both incompatible with democratic values and immoral.

Just finished a 6 hour drive up from Bordeaux area towards Normandy to get the ferry home tomorrow. AC in the car seems to have given up for the last hour in 38 degree heat. Hope it cops on over night and keeps us cool for the last few hours tomorrow.
