It occurs to me that, being newly here, I should maybe explain my name. It comes from Caledonian Antisyzygy - a perceived characteristic of Scots literature (and presbyterian theology) to see the bad in the good. I think we Scots tend to second-guess ourselves, and our lack of confidence hampers us.

I think when history looks back at this era, should we make it to the future, it will wonder how the people who actiively contributed to the world's problems, i.e. exploitation of people & resources, managed to convince their populations that they should vote them in as the answer to those problems

The silver lining to the horror story is that traditional pneumonic plague is inefficient at spreading - it kills its host far too quickly.

However, given the international consensus that Russia has an active bioweapons programme, it would be presumptious to rule out a novel, weaponised strain.

I've been a member of the lobby for well over a decade. Not a single one of my lobby colleagues has said a word about the Conservatives banning me from their conferences, without any explanation.

Contrast with the US where even Fox News stood in solidarity when Trump banned news outlets he disliked
