ICYMI: The City of Seattle released a report last week on the state of our economy. Here are a few of my favorite snippets.
Based on last week's executive order, (wilson.seattle.gov/2026/09/09/m...) the city seems willing to take action on these recommendations.

The Seattle Miracle:
1️⃣ Seattle’s tree canopy cover grew 50% (10pp) since 2007. 🌲
2️⃣ Seattle’s population has grown by about 25% (150k people) over the same timeframe. 🌆
This is an incredible civic achievement. Politicians should be shouting this from the rooftops.

Minecraft: I was thinking in the shower this morning about how for the eventual End Update, they can turn it into effectively a roguelike. It's already basically a roguelite, where you adventure out from the central island, get your loot, then return back via a gateway or via death.

Oh, about that, I discovered a new library and decided to switch the entire architecture over to it. Lol. I shouldn't have this power. It's for the better... probably.
Restructure is almost done, which is great. Moving to edge cases, maintenance improvements, and visual polish... like this incredible underlay.

KUOW uses independent journalists for information, even *invites them onto KUOW shows*. But in yet another occurrence in Sound Politics' and their team's continued descent into platforming conservatives and deplatforming real journalists, they now publicly lie and mock their industry peers.
Their reporter, Cat Smith, then said, "we actually did have information in our story saying that Barnes' travel was basically in line with what Diaz and other past chiefs have done. It's a lot of travel. The position in Seattle, traveling is part of the job." One problem: They didn't have that info.

Until a road is 100% pedestrian only, it is not pedestrianized. If service vehicles or local access are allowed, people on the street must still be aware and in fear of a vehicle cutting them down. People can't sit and picnic in the middle of the road. That should not be considered pedestrianized.

For that exact reason I will not be voting for Sawant. She is a fireball that has and will actively push people away from our causes. She would be a complete disaster in the house.

Deeply embarrassing that the Stranger continues to avoid defending Sawant’s, IMO disqualifying, move to fly to Michigan to campaign against Kamala Harris, where she said “this is ground zero to punish Kamala Harris and defeat her.” I voted for Sawant previously, but never will again

What fantasy world do you expect us to live in?
We can always strive to do better, but a lack of perfection doesn't mean you suggest crashing and burning an agency that is trying it's damn best.

This should be our opportunity to use the massive amounts of money that AI is creating to reinvest in huge solar farms, modern nuclear plants, a clean resilient energy grid!! But we're not doing that, so instead everyone's fighting over energy.
