A piece I wrote years ago about London, kayfabe and the small places that seem to exist on the edges of reality in any city.

The places in which we often find a home.
Bradley's: Lager and Shots in No-Man's Land
“I’m disappointed everyone here isn’t more… you know… Spanish.” The man in the expensive suit says, with slight confusion, to the towering figure behind the downstairs bar. Jan, the Belgian manager of...

Let’s Work Together — Community-Led Winemaking at Forty Hall Vineyard, Enfield, London — Pellicle
Standing among 10 acres of grapevines at the edge of Enfield in North London, it’s hard to believe the M25 is so close. A herd of Red Poll cows moo in the neighbouring field; feral parakeets raucously...

1 of 4 #scotsfoundedfootball One of, if not the most important match played at any of the Hampdens was May 10th 1947, when a Great Britain Select met a Rest of Europe team. Carlo Parola of Juve and an Italy defender played that day and gave some idea of the ferment in Glasgow.

According to tracking data from Jonathan McDowell's Space Report: as of late September 2026, 1,807 Starlink satellites have deorbited and re-entered Earth's atmosphere.
Starlink and other low orbit arrays have this problem. Satellite lifespan is 5 years. The endeavor is linked to unending significant capex. If they stop launching, the array falls out of the sky. This is why making the US Gov't dependent on Starlink is a huge priority for Musk and SpaceX.

Sometimes I forget that not everyone knows that Prince had a period in the late 80s when he was quite enamored with Chicago house music, and he created (at least) a gospel-tinged house album, for which he tried to enlist Mark Moore of S’express, Patti Labelle for vocals, and maybe William Orbit.
Much of the unreleased house album Prince did in the late 80s was praise music, to my understanding. It feels like such a loss that we’re all being denied it.
