Making a decision to wait on these actions until after an election is a full out admission that they have no interest in following the actual wishes of the people. It's really disappointing that more of the folks who vote for them don't realize that.

Make stuff. Do your hobbies. Geek out with your weird friends. Practice arts and crafts. Every society that ever burned to the ground left behind only the handicrafts, and every society saved from the brink was saved only by arts. Do not give up the joy of creating.

To be clear, Kansas Republicans rushed through a confusing and disastrous bill, created a panic, and wasted untold number of tax dollars all to target 300 out of the nearly 3 million people in the state.

Hey remember how "social credit system" was portrayed as a highly dystopian concept that could only happen in China

And now suddenly every single platform will be required to scan your face or ID to let you access adult, political or lgbtq content, no ties to surveillance systems there trust us bro

The right to privacy, both private and public, needs to be centered in our political and cultural conversations.

Someone recording me is less intrusive than a giant corporation keeping records on me. It's the data more than the action. Yet this technology does both with the intent to harm me.

7. At this point, no state can reasonably be classified as “low risk” for transgender youth. Until we see broad, consistent enforcement against institutions that comply with federal pressure campaigns, “medium risk” represents the most favorable category available in the current environment.

I realized today also that programmers (like myself) are being forced to train ai for free. Because right now the amount of prompting you have to go to get good output is ridiculous. I keep being told “treat it like an intern that needs a lot of instructions,” but I’d fire this intern immediately.

there are people, I am increasingly of the mind, that need people to say "hey, stop and think about the consequences of your actions for a minuite" and i dunno at this point I feel like the United States' collective denial of that responsibility is Why We Are Here.

Law is a technology, and it has saved easily as many lives as antibiotics.
Like, in a very elemental anthropological way, we have laws for a reason, and it's because people won't tolerate it otherwise

The solution to blood feuds was never "well you should just not get so mad when someone you love is murdered." It was the law, it was justice
the uvalde cop scum were acquitted because the law favors cop scum, and while i do respect and value the rule of law, if this is where it ends, either the law is going to have to change or our acceptance of the law is going to have to change, and you do not need a telescope to see the danger here

LOL ai generated boner pill commercials.

Just fucking end it all. We don't deserve to survive as a species. Someone really said "Create a guy with a slightly lower-class sounding southern accent to talk about boner pills." and then used the slop that came out.
