Sorry guys, it's "prix fixe" menu. As in Grand Prix.

Got a fave anglicization?
Yes and the current Google is a monopoly that needs to be split up
Part of why I don't like the AI-or-bust economy is the constant flopsweat of people on the news who say this HAS to work. Quit making everyone so anxious. Goddamn. If this is the next Google then why are you acting like this? I don't remember being told to buy an iPhone at gunpoint.

I need a button to disinvest
AI is now the biggest investment in all of US history as a percentage of GDP.

Datacenter construction is up, all other construction is down.

"AI Is Squeezing Out the Rest of the Stock Market," reported WSJ 2 days ago.

We basically bet the whole economy on the most optimistic visions panning out.

Debate me, “without adultery there is no novel” (also Attribute this) lol
"They say write what you know, which is probably why so many 'literary' novels are about middle-aged professors contemplating adultery."

Long ago a history teacher referred to a paper as “computer generated” meaning it was legibly printed by a dot matrix printer rather than scrawled longhand on ruled paper. The implication was that the author of the paper sat waiting for the machine to boot and pressed Save as she wrote.
What the fuck, Joyce. I don’t even read romance novels but this kind of thinking pisses me the fuck off. It further pushes that mentality that some books as “lesser” which is bullshit! All books count!

I also think a lot about cross-generational friendships. We’re all taught to seek out friends of a similar age in the same life stage.

And that culture plays a role in keeping all of us naive about misogyny that women a few years older are experts in navigating.

Either this is a working definition for insurance (and how companies profit therefrom) or a way to punish people for their youth and health
"You see, they sign up for health care, they pay for health care, and then they don't *use* that health care. It's the perfect crime and they thought they were going to get away with it."
Assistant AG for Fraud Colin McDonald: "Apparently 35% of people have never even used their Obamacare account for any health services. That is a statistical impossibility and it's because these are not real people seeking real care. These are fraudsters."

Call me old-fashioned, but I truly believe soup is meant to be made in a cauldron over an open fire under a full moon with the sound of wolves in the distance.

Not gonna read the article, but if I was to stay with Holmes she’d be making me waffles. I know she’d be in there separating those eggs. I’m a very gracious houseguest.

for those outside New Zealand: 2 years ago a veiled far-right astroturf org threatened to sue an investigative journalist for a book he was writing about them. He was not writing a book about them, but this incident meant former staff started leaking to him. He used those leaks to write a book.

You pick a target (one of these guys), you pressure them directly and through secondary targets (the people these guys have to interact with face-to-face) and if you can sustain that work, you eventually win.

Everything is structural, AND

That structure has weak points and those weak points are these guys specifically
Your 20s are for believing everything is structural and your 30s are for learning that actually it's often just some guy or small group of guys (gender neutral)

I’m all for the science fiction electric trains
Well well well, guess you should have electrified the railroad sometime over the last fuxking 100 years
Norfolk Southern’s CFO “said fuel prices at the present time are like something out of ‘science fiction.’”

(Lost a draft here…) Another facet of this is when advocating for the rights of a group you realize that this means fighting for the rights of even the individuals from this group that are annoying or inconvenient.
Yes it’s very apparent when they reserve the use of a slur for a naughty person who screwed up. No. If they can only be decent to trans people when convenient, they have no decency at all. Either they believe in equality or they do not.

As I continue my little jaunt through the Austen books (a continual joy, the magic that woman could weave with a quill and an attitude), I would like for people to let me have incorrect first impressions about things. This is an integral part of reading a narrative!
