Eye popping. Court just unsealed Summary Judgment motions in New York Times v OpenAI / Microsoft.
Easy to see why the AI companies had so many redactions (pink). Their own people wrote the lede for NYT, the "largest theft of labor in human history"... "more and more substitutive..." /1

I bought Sheryl Crow's Tuesday Night Music Club and the Cranberries' No Need to Argue on the same day I inherited my brother's hand-me-down Sony Discman; it was one of the greatest days of my life.
44 years ago today, the first CD was produced.

What is the first CD you owned?

One of the delights I've found in Puerto Vallarta is cafes that are open late into the night. A civic, creative, and political good.
If it hadn't been for late night cafes, I never would have written a few of my novels. I miss them a lot.
I find it fascinating that in the 1990s, the US managed to re-create early twentieth-century Vienna café culture only to have it gradually decay over the first quarter of the twenty-first century such that now most coffee shops are closed by six PM.

Relatedly, if your local library has a pride display: go to the librarians and thank them. Tell them you love it and want to see more like it!
Look into your local school board and your child’s student handbook if you’re a parent. Find out about policies re: bathroom and locker room use. Reach out to the principal and express your concern or conversely to laud them for nondiscrimination protections. They hear from the other side every day.
