Giving people a chance to change their minds is why street pilots matter.
The most amazing thing is happening behind the scenes at Pike Place Market. The Constituency—once an obstacle to progressive change—is now fighting to keep cars out of the market.

Me reading Wildwood III sometime in 2021. I can't wait for the Laika movie on October 23!

P.S. We are organizing a Wildwood Bike Bus on October 24.
Friday morning book reading and brainstorming.

I was just invited to submit a full grant application for $20,000 to grow the bike train to include a walking bus and an active mobility clinic in the school's PE class.

Our work with Anson's Bike Buddies is about to grow!

Has @thewaroncars.bsky.social community noticed a dramatic uptick in toxic masculinity these past 2 weeks?

Both Bikabout and my safe routes to school program have been inundated and I blame the NY Times DEI bike lane article / troll bots...

My magic 🪄 elves

I am getting the Alice Award from @thestreettrust.org at the end of the month and these talented 🚲 mechanics play a huge part.

Bike Buddies has donated over 300 bikes in 4 years to kids AND they tune up the Hood River County bike fleets.

All for beer 🍺 pizza 🍕 and conversation.

Our 16yo is a big fan of @mayor.nyc.gov and she bikes to school every day, choosing not to wear a helmet.

She shared Mamdani's "you're right, I've got to do better" social post about wearing a helmet and we all took a deep breath.

Thanks, @thewaroncars.bsky.social

Sidewalk hierarchy:
1. Business
2. Drivers
3. People

I was packing my bike next to the curb and had already moved x2 for the store to sweep and a driver to unpack her car.

Aesop: move your bike so we can put our A-frame out. We need to open.

Me: this is public right of way

Them: leave now

10 years after we left Boston, we biked between friends' 🏠 JP to Somerville.

On Mass Ave, a parked ambulance forced us into traffic, where a speeding driver missed me by inches.
We asked the crew to move. They did.

But paint isn’t protection—and Boston still treats bike lanes like parking.

“Safe Routes to School is exactly the kind of investment that pays off for generations: safer streets for our kids today, and a more walkable, bikeable Hood River tomorrow,” said Hood River City Councilor Gladys Rivera.

Students and youth should be centered in safe routes to school communications more.

Their joyful support sets a tone for why it's important to have safe biking and walking infrastructure.

The OG walk & roll club helped me engage neighbors back in 2023 and now get to celebrate their advocacy.

In 2026, Hood River and Wasco County Commissions voted to uphold the public land along Hood River Road. This was thanks to the advocacy work of our Bike Buddies volunteer.

The landowner who had previously chained the gate and put up no trespassing signs was ordered to remove them. 1/2

8 of 9 of my ⚡🚲 E-bike library borrowers have purchased them as car replacement. So far, that's a $5000 cost out of my grant.

Imagine if libraries and instant discount programs were launched in all small to medium cities that don't have bike share. The ROI for CO2 👇🏻 > than EV rebates.
“Dutch people cycle an average of 2.6km each per day. If this pattern was replicated worldwide, annual carbon emissions would drop by 686 million tonnes.

This mammoth figure exceeds the entire carbon footprint of most countries, including the UK, Canada, Saudi Arabia and Australia.” @euronews.com
Cycling like the Dutch would slash the world’s carbon footprint
If everybody cycled like the Dutch, we could offset the UK or Australia’s entire carbon footprint.

No wonder our kids are anxious.
Is doomscrolling bad for you?

A meta-analysis of 42 studies (N=46,912) finds that consuming short-form videos is linked to increases in inattention & impulsivity; reductions in working-memory span & self-regulation; elevations in anxiety, depression & stress; and a surge in addiction symptoms.
