Camden Council just announced the pedestrianization of Camden High Street will be permanent!
When Seattle begins pedestrianizing streets in earnest, I think the London borough of Camden provides a great model. Much of this is dictated by law but they start with a proposal, gather public input, perform a trial, evaluate the results, and then decide whether and how to make it permanent.

To make a shared street, just add a little friction (planters, signs, bollards, pavers).

King County struggles to provide services to the unincorporated areas that exist now. On top of being environmentally reckless, advocating for UGA expansion is incredibly fiscally irresponsible.

Shared streets come in all shapes and sizes. This Copenhagen example is wide and has a lot of parking but also has a nice portal treatment and spaces that invite pedestrians into the street.

1) What if we made a Dutch-style stop but put the shelter on the sidewalk?
2) What if we made a Toronto-style stop but provided more landing space for bus users?

The thing about Copenhagen bike infrastructure…it’s not the best (every Dutch municipality is better) but it’s enough to make bikes the most practical mode for many trips.
