Took @nashvillebcycleops.bsky.social to McDougal's for lunch and saw a bike locked up to a sign outside. Figured there must be somebody I knew in there, and sure enough... had a delightful lunch with local legend @benvaught.bsky.social!

Bikes support a level of community that cars could never.

Lock in y'all, we're talking about East Bank Boulevard again.

The Wasioto Bend MCSP amendment is going before the Planning Commission this afternoon.

This amendment proposes a new street grid through the Wasioto Bend neighborhood, including the portion of East Bank Boulevard south of KVB.

I think I am susceptible to AI psychosis, but in the very specific way where if I ask it enough questions about why football teams don't deploy multiple offensive players that can throw and run well, it will convince me that I am the next Ben Johnson with my two QB playbook

🚨 🚨 EMERGENCY STREETS PILOT PROGRAM 🚨 🚨

Nashville’s Vision Zero Advisory Committee has been pushing for a similar approach for years, falling on deaf ears at NDOT. Maybe a positive example will give them the push to commit to rapid response like the City of Spokane!
The City is launching its new Emergency Streets pilot program, which provides a rapid-response approach to traffic safety by installing temporary traffic-calming measures within 48–72 hours of a fatal crash. The goal is simple: increase awareness, reduce speeds, and make streets safer right away.

I'm seeing lots of amazing bike bus stories going around on Bluesky, and it got me thinking - could I be a part of a bike bus when my son is ready for elementary school?

I live just west of Gallatin Pike up behind El Fuego. That puts our family in the Hattie Cotton Zone for elementary school...

Have you ever physically been to Wasioto Park?

If you're ever debating whether it is worthwhile to make time for the gym in your weekly routine, just know that your ass might be posted in the NY Times without your consent.

Don't gotta get ready if you stay ready, I'm learning.

It should be celebrated that in an era where transit funding crises are putting entire systems in major cities at existential risk, Nashville just keeps improving transit year after year, even before we had a dedicated funding source.

Can’t wait to see what these numbers look like in 2030 or 2040.
Bus numbers to the moon 🚀

Them: “People must be allowed and incentivized to pilot several thousand pounds of their personal property into downtown so they can access businesses and amenities.”

No they don’t. You just made that up.

Everyone should be able to walk/bike across the street without fearing for their life. Yet Nashville continues to see pedestrians killed while crossing our roads. No turn on red is a proven step that can help prevent these tragedies. We’ve studied the issue long enough. It’s time to act.

Truly an unfortunate time for the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County to be going hat in hand to these freaks asking for money to support the kinds of things they are publicly renouncing in their official guidance 😅
The Republican war on science comes for road safety.

Protected bike lanes, road diets, and automatic traffic enforcement prevent people from being killed. Researchers have proven this—repeatedly.
FHWA’s Proven Safety Countermeasures website continues to say that there are "28 countermeasures and strategies effective in reducing roadway fatalities & serious injuries"... but they now only list 23.

MIA are the following 5 related to Speed Management, Bicyclists, & Road Diets...

Really unfortunate that Nashville’s first major initiative to rebuild our streets for safety, livability, and choice coincides perfectly with these short sighted federal chuds holding the money bags
"Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy announced Tuesday that his department would redirect $1.73 billion in Biden-era grants away from establishing “DEI bike lanes” to build roads and bridges instead."

The most shallow, simplistic fuckwits to have ever lived are running the US government...
Trump Secretary Says Bike Lanes Are DEI
Apparently the Trump administration is just calling anything it doesn’t like “DEI.”

According to this story, Nashville is waiting on $9.3 million in federal funding to complete the East Nashville Spokes project. That is less than one typical month of CHYM revenue collection...

It is a real and recurring issue that committee agendas are populated with items on which there is essentially no substantive update from city officials. This item could have been an email, or update to the project website.

So grateful that the chair held some uninformed feet to fire on this one!
We asked for an update on this project at the last BPAC meeting but only received a brief presentation from Metro Legal, who said they couldn't comment on pending litigation.
