Every map search says where you live, work and sleep. For most Canadians, that map is American, and so is the company holding the answers.

Maple Maps is the Canadian one. Built here, hosted in Montréal, Canadian-owned businesses marked with a leaf. No ads. No data sold. Ever.

Maple Maps — Navigation made for Canada
Maple Maps is a navigation app built for Canada: live traffic and closures, a maple leaf on Canadian-owned businesses, English or French, and data that stays in Canada. The iPhone beta is open.

I was in a swimming pool in Iceland. It had just happened. Spent the last day of our vacation on a friend’s couch watching it all on TV. Left Reykjavik just after midnight, got stranded in London for a few days, but had a friend’s couch to sleep on.

So relieved when we finally got home.
I was on a GO bus from Shoppers World to Union Station, heading to my 11am university class. About the time we were on the Gardiner, I heard people getting calls and then sounded shocked. I figured something was up, but didn’t know yet.
I was in a taxi on my way to work, two hours late, after a weekend cocaine binge. The second tower had already collapsed. I missed it all.

Had to clamber over a barbed wire fence, rip my coat and trespass to get a photo of this folkloric monster pretending half-successfully to be a tree. I have no regrets.

Sunday reading:

I wrote about the worldview that drives Trump’s politics.

He doesn’t really have an ideology – but he has a consistent, grievance-fueled idea of how power and status should be distributed, and that aligns him with the Right’s ideologues.

This week’s piece:
Does Donald Trump Have an Ideology?
No, not exactly. But he has a consistent, grievance-fueled idea of how power and status should be distributed, and that aligns him with the Right’s ideologues just fine

This isn't the first time the USA has placed 50% tariffs on Canada.
In 1890, the USA's Tariff Act was touted as a way to build up American industry, but the true goal was forcing the annexation of Canada.
It backfired and made Canada stronger.
This is the story.

America, spend some time watching Mark Carney dealing with Trump’s offensive and illegal trade war. It will remind you what a leader should be and make you deeply embarrassed at the face we currently show the world.

So maybe the U.S. and Canada reach a deal today. Okay.

But how many hours until Trump gets annoyed at the way beavers build dams or Canada geese shit in upstate New York before he imposes 125% tariffs on Degrassi High reruns?

Headlines: Such-and-such technology may someday be as smart as human brains!

Reminder: *We already have human brains.* Billions of them. Most of them living in poverty and being exploited for the obscene benefit of a tiny number of the worst people in the world.

I wish people who oppose bike lanes would understand that some people rides bikes because driving isn't an option for them
Some have health issue that prevent them from qualifying for a Driver's license others might not be able to afford cars
A bike is a mode of transport not a political statement
